Hi everyone!

At the begining I'd like to point that I am not a programmer so I do not really know if my ideas could be implemented or not. :)

But getting to the topic.

I have been plying CK2 sice the relase, an what hit me, was that AI characters were set to have 0 or 1 type opinion modifiers. What's more they absolutely forgot about previous actions of their ruler or vassals or whatever. The Republican sucession is also unintuitive.

That is why (and because of the new DLC) I'd like to propose three mechanic's suggestions.

I. Decaying opinion.
The concept is based ont that all opinion modifiers that are teporary, and appear because of taken actions, shouldn't be yes-no but rather decaying durig period of time. Like "enraged by change succesion law" shouldn't disapear after set tim, but decay by 10% off original value each year. The same goes with "imprison", "killed close family member", "abduct wife", "gave duke title" and so forth.

II. Hopes and fears.
This is the name for additional opinion modifier calculated as such: after the death of the previous ruler, the actual opinios of his vassals, courtiers etc. at the moment of this death should be divided by 5 and added to the opinions agaist the current ruler.
For example:
when the old ruler was craven, wroth, possesed lunatic, who month before his death would got to killing and revocation spree, the next ruler should have more difficult start, as all people in the realm would fear that he would be the same. On the other hand , the heir of the ruler loved by the people, should have easier start, because of his fahter deeds. It is like they hope for them being similar to their father.

III. La Serenissia.
Te third concept is about Republican succesion. The main thing is that every republic (vanice, Amalfi, Genoa, Hanza, or created by the player) should be represented as the immomrtal character, that symbiolises the country. In this way, the doge election should be influenced by the "Republican opinion" about candidate. It may be achived in simmilar manner, as "opinion of X as a new liege" in pretender's factions.
For example:
If Venice would be greedy, diligent, gregarious, cynical thus candidate for dodge ith this traits ould be more preferred, than slothful, shy, charitable, zealous.

Hope you like this.
I am open for the discussion, and if the lack of my laguage skills make this post not quite understandable, please, let me know. :)

Oh yeah a big one plus (two plus?) for points one and two. Yes it pisses me off when the next generation quickly forgets the kindness I've bestowed on to them, - oi you bastard, I just made your dad a Duke and you decide to repay me with a rebellion. Alot of modifiers should be multi-generational if you ask me, particularly the granting of titles and/or privileges.

And I like two as well. I like the notion that the sins of the father might play into it.

And on the subject of good king - bad king, something I'd like to see the game AI do better is react to you. So I don't like games where I've ruled for forty years so no one bothers me because my long reign bonus is massive. I'd rather see vassals react to whether you're a strong king or a weak king (as opposed "good" or "bad"). Strength would be partially determined by traits, but largely by player's style. When a King is strong and willful, the vassals know it'd be harder to get their own way, whereas when a King is weak and ineffective then they can pounce, at any point in his reign.

(Examples of why long reign isn't necessary the best way of providing stability) King John of England had ruled as Monarch for some 15/16 years before the Magna Carta was foisted upon him. His son Henry III had ruled for nearly 50 years before he faced a (2nd) civil war with his barons. Both might be considered weak kings.
