Questions on heresies

In my current game my ruler, King of Sicily, is a maniac will all the demonic traits you can imagine. He also suddenly became Waldensian.

What does this mean? Are there any special mechanics of being a heretic and what will happen? Is it possible to covert the provinces of my kingdom to Waldensian?

Sadly, Waldensian is one of the more boring heresies. It doesn't have any special mechanics, except to note that it doesn't have a religious head. Be aware that becoming a heresy mean that every Catholic country will have a CB to declare Holy War on you (as will you). And yes, it is possible, over time, to convert your provinces to Waldensian. It helps if Catholicism moral authority is low and yours is high.
