The Republic of Libya

(In a radio center in Tobruk)
Citizens and Soldiers of Libya! For far too long we have toiled under the tyrannical rule of Dictators, invaders, and madmen. These men and terrors are all insane megalo-maniacs, but they are nothing compared to the threat that faces us today! Terrorists, long suppressed and banished from our beauteous nation, have come to us in the form of wolves in sheep's clothing. They fought beside us against the false leader, and they claimed only to be interested in the overthrow of the tyrant! But lo and behold, they show their true skin, not the skin of Men, but the skin of dogs! We shall drive these dogs from our homes, and we will win! No longer will Glorious Libya be subject to the whims of those who would control us, or undermine us. We shall instead make our own destiny, one in the light of Allah, the true Allah, and not this monstrosity of Allah the Terrorists preach! We will band together to defend against these raiders, and we will soon hear the lamentations of their women. Be warned, for with such victory comes a price. The Transitional Counsel, after much deliberation, have declared Marshall law, to root out the weeds that live within the Garden of the nation. I ask all nations of the world to help us in our time of need, for the threat of these Terrorists will not stop at one nations borders.

GM Announcement: I have added into this game a stability stat for all the nations. If your orders were already sent in and they revolve around increasing stability, please send them again and label them as: (Increase Stability)

The government of Tunisia strongly condemns the actions of the Moroccan government and strongly urges both sides to come to the negotiating table. This war will only add to the rise of terrorism and instability in the region and does not serve the interests of the people of either the Polarsio or Morocco.

The Government of Algeria is greatly distressed, and disturbed, by the illegal, and violent actions of the Kingdom of Morocco. There actions break a long standing, and functioning, United Nations ceasefire. This is not just an assault on Sahrawi, or the people of Sahara, but also on the credibility of the entire International community. This conflict will just cause pain and suffering to innocents, and achieve little. Furthermore, it will allow a new front for Islamist forces, like ISIS and those in Libya, to appear, causing a direct threat to all our nations. As such, we call upon the United Nations, and all of the world, in denouncing Moroccan aggression, a reinstatement of the 1991 ceasefire, and resumption of peace talks. We hope peace and stability can prevail.

The Republic of Chad condemns the actions of the Kingdom of Morocco as mere territorial ambition and a self view of justification that is in reality merely an excuse to exact what many would call: score settling. We join the government of Algeria among others in calling for a cessation of hostility in the region and for the UN to not only denounce the Moroccan regime but to also force upon it severe penalties for its aggression.

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful;

The Arab Republic of Egypt supports Moroccan action in the Western Sahara and its efforts to fight the instability in the region. These criminals and terrorists, kept standing by Algerian aid alone, have for long enough kept the population of the Tindouf camps away from their land, let Al-Qaeda abuse the conflict, and hamper development of the region for too long. Egypt formally supports the Moroccan autonomy plan as a final solution to the conflict and hopes that POLISARIO will come to its senses and negotiate with the Moroccan authorities rather than rot away in a tent camp. If POLISARIO wishes the best for its people, they will not seek independence for a piece of desert devoid of resources; no viable country will come of this.

Furthermore, the instability in Libya is a prime source of concern for our country. Seeing as Libya's army, whoever controls it, can not bring security and stability to that country, Egypt will take the measures it deems necessary to secure its borders. But an internal solution would be preferable, and Egypt urges all parties to come together and make an agreement to restore stability to Libya and introduce the peace that all Libyans hoped for since October 2011 as soon as possible.

-President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The Restoration of the Ethiopian Empire

The restoration of the Ethiopian monarchy cannot be said to have been expected. As is the case with so many other monarchies, the abolition thereof had been accomplished by the murder of the sovereign and the imposition of an infinitely worse regime, however in the republic which assumed power after the regime had been overthrown the monarchy now seemed like ancient history. Forty years may have been as well have been forty centuries. Luckily for those who wished to see the restoration of the monarchy, however, the history of the Federal Democratic Republic was of a much more recent vintage and was not at all a sterling one. The present government was seated after the general elections of 2005 which took place among wide reports of voter suppression and vote rigging, ensuring that the coalition which had been in power more or less from the fall of the Derg retained their power.

Despite not being first to the lips when one spoke of the various dictatorial regimes for which Africa was famous, Ethiopia certainly was one. According to the Democracy Index published in late 2010, Ethiopia was an "authoritarian regime", ranking as the 118th most democratic out of 167 countries. Under the ruling coalition Ethiopia had dropped 12 places on the list since 2006, and the report attributed the drop to the regime's crackdown on opposition activities, media and civil society before the 2010 parliamentary election, which the made Ethiopia a de facto one-party state. The drought which the country suffered throughout 2011 and the rise of Islamism in the predominantly Muslim parts of the country also served as points of contention and concern, while the death of longserving dictator/Prime Minister Meles Zenawi in 2012 seemed to hasten the imminent downfall of the regime in 2015's scheduled election. However after a certain series of events, that downfall would come much more quickly.

Comments by the interim ruler of Ethiopia, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, about boosting democracy in the country were well received and several large protests -- which had not been permitted under the previous Prime Minister -- were able to take place in Addis Ababa. However the essential characteristics of the regime were kept in place and the opposition grew ever more fearful of another rigged vote. As threats from Al-Shabbab grew, ISIS grew, a military coup d'etat was launched in Libya, and the Christian majority became steadily more afraid of the Islamism and instability which surrounded them, it became ever-clearer that action needed to be taken. At the instigation of Hailu Shawul, the leader of the Opposition in the country, Abune Mathias of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church -- which, despite the advocacy of his predecessor for pardons to members of the Derg regime, had always remained strongly entwined with the monarchy -- formally offered the Crown of Ethiopia to Zera Yacob Amha Selassie; the grandson of the last emperor. He was crowned as Ahma Selassie II during a private ceremony at the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum, the traditional resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. The reaction of the government was understandably upset and the Minister of Defense ordered troops from their barracks to surround and arrest the Patriarch and Emperor, as well as others who had participated. A Muslim ordering the arrest of the spiritual father of a little over half the Ethiopian population did not go over well, however, and the Army threw its weight behind the new emperor and seized government buildings; forcing the government to flee to Egypt.

Over the next couple days the situation in Addis Ababa settled down as soldiers patrolled the streets and the Emperor took up residence in the Imperial Palace, Imperial once more rather than the offices of the Prime Minister. The population of the capital, and indeed most of Ethiopia, held no strong affection for the corrupt and dictatorial republic which had ruled over them; but neither did any but the elderly hold a strong affection for the King of Kings. The Muslims in the south also had the possibility to become quite restless with the restoration of an emphatically Christian state. As with all other fresh regimes on the African continent, the survival of the Imperial government would end up, most likely, as a matter of luck.

The People of Kenya are pleased to see the revival of a hopefully more stable government in our Northern Neighbors. In the future we hope to cooperate with Ethiopia in order to bring peace and stability to this region. However we must not only bring up the good news in the region, but also the bad. It appears that the Arab Republic of Egypt, a neighbor even farther north, is prepared to take "the measures it deems necessary" against Libya. We cannot in good faith watch one Muslim country attack another, and so we must also condemn the actions of the Kingdom of Morocco. We hope that tensions in both areas will ease, and that some sort of peace can be agreed upon in the future of Africa's Muslim states.

The Republic of Libya

I ask the Government of Egypt to refrain from doing undue action without just cause, and ask them to instead join us in our glorious and just war against terror.

123px-Coat_of_arms_of_Egypt_%28Official%29.svg.png

We will take the measures we deem necessary if our borders are threatened by whatever party, and would like to make clear we support the Libyan people in re-establishing order.

The nation of Madagascar protests against the Moroccan imperialism and aggression in Western Sahara. It reeks of the empires of our colonial oppressors. The Western Sahara should be administered by the UN until a successful solution can be found. Military violence is not the answer and it shall hopefully not be yours. It is also good to see the Ethiopian monarchy restored, if it at least restores some stability.

To the states bordering Al-Shaabab: I suggest we combine our forces and attack Al-Shaabab. It is a scourge that must be destroyed for there to be peace.
The President

Botswana concurs, any and all military action against these terrorists should be co-ordinated and conducted according to international law.

Gentlemen, i would like to remind you what happens when guerilla forces are met with a powerful, but foreign, military force. The best example is the Vietnam war. Sending in such overwhelming firepower will create a guerilla war with no clear winner for several years, and what's worse, it will bring an even greater devestation upon those already bereaved by poverty, drought, famine, war, etc. We must not shun those that need our help the most.

Your concerns are legitimate, President Kenyatta, but Al-Shaabab has recently been in turmoil-their second in command was killed several days ago. They are in a position of weakness. I am not suggesting we bomb Somalia back to the Stone Age; we should instead carefully and cautiously maneuver our way through the hotbed of instability that is Somalia. It would be expedient to focus on 'hearts and minds'-helping the people, not stealing or looting or doing what Al-Shaabab currently is doing. As long as we consider our options well and choose wisely, we can succeed to restoring Somalia to at least a shred of it's former stability.

Africa 2014-2015
Chad
The Republic of Chad sought out help from the Russian and Chinese governments. The Chadian Government went to China for Financial Aid, and was surprised to see that China, the nation that commonly invests in Africa, has refused to help them at all. They state that unless their human rights record improves, they will receive no aid. The Russians were worse, since Chad went to them for military equipment. They sent rusty tanks, broken weapons, and almost no ammunition, tricking the Chadians out of true weapons and their money. (-0.10 GDP, -0.75 billion in treasury)

The Republic of Chad also had problems at home. In an attempt to bring about reform, the government lowered ballet restrictions and requirements. This allowed for minor parties to run for political office. The plan was to make it so the minor parties did not receive actual power, but this backfired heavily. Immediately, many minor parties appeared in Chad, but they all had one objective, remove the ruling party from power. These parties began staging protests, forming massive alliances to make them less minor, and completely deteriorating the instability that was high enough. (Stability: Very High Instability -- Extremely High Instability)

Tanzania
The Tanzanian Government allocated money for a project that will expand Irrigation systems across the country. While this is a good idea, problems began to arise. First off, the Irrigation system’s funding was being siphoned by corrupt officials, and by the time it reached the project, there was not enough left to do anything. Eventually corruption won the day and the project was cancelled due to lack of funding. (Treasury -1.0 billion)

The Government also allocated funds to the electrical and transmission infrastructure of the country. Once again corruption was the culprit in bringing this project down. Funds were being siphoned off to stockholders, lobbyists, other politicians, and other corrupt individuals. The funds all but disappeared by the time they actually reached the electrical company. As such, the infrastructure could not be expanded by much, and the only thing hurt was the Tanzanian treasury. (Treasury -1.0 billion)

Angola
The Angolan Government allocated funds to improve the infrastructure of Angola after it was ravaged by the Angolan Civil War. The funds proved successful in improving it, and soon new paved roads can be found crossing the nation. More work will be done though before the Infrastructure of Angola can be considered modern. (Treasury -1.0 billion, Infrastructure ⅕ -- ⅖)

The Government also hired western instructors from other Portuguese native speaking countries like Portugal and Brazil. The instructors came and were sent into universities and schools across Angola, but they were met with a harsh response by the population. After all, it was Portugal who sent in troops and committed terrible things to the citizens during the 400 year reign of Portugal in Angola. The men from Portugal were harassed and threatened by many Angolan Citizens, especially those who lived through the Portuguese invasion. The men left without injury, but what the government’s original purpose for them was failed at a cost. (Treasury -0.5 billion)

The government lastly decided to better organize their oil and mineral production. The plan was to increase the income of the nation and increase exports to oil consuming nations like China. The organization succeeded and a decent raise in the income and exports will generate a nice little profit boost to the nation. (Treasury -1.0 billion, Income +0.10, GDP +0.10)

Namibia
The Namibian government started the year off with allocating funds to increase the throughput of goods coming from Botswana and inland South Africa. This involves improving/maintaining the rail links to these countries, and building a new sea port near
Lüderitz. The port has been proposed with a 1600 KM railway for export of coal from Botswana. The city also is home to a large terminus of railways that are currently not operational. The government started off well, construction was under way. The only problem is time. It will take a while for the sea-port to be finished, and the railways to be fully operational. Thus for now, the project is only taking funds off of Namibia. (Treasury -1.5 billion, GDP +0.10 in four turns, Income +0.10 in four turns.)

Namibia also orders the creation of special economic zones in the country. It offered multinational companies to come and set up business and/or headquarters in Namibia at a relaxed tax rate. The only condition is that they must only employ Namibians. At first, few companies signed up, but then Philips Electronics announced they would set up places of business and an HQ inside Namibia. This was a good choice for Philips since Namibia is home to many important materials for use in electronics like Tungsten. Soon other electronic companies offered to put small business places in Namibia. The GDP and income of Namibia has indeed been risen. (GDP +0.15, Income +0.15)

LRA
The Lord’s Resistance Army started off the year with posting pamphlets for people to join the cause. The pamphlets state that it is God’s will that the LRA achieves its objectives, and that God is on their side. This works well, some people in Central Africa sign up to help the LRA in its quest. Their numbers now seem less laughable. (Militants +150)

The LRA then turns it’s attention to getting supplies. While throughout its travels in the CAR, many villages were abandoned due to the increasing violence throughout the country. The LRA takes this opportunity to scavenge as many supplies as possible, taking cash, food in granaries, and any livestock left behind on the farms. They also find members of the CAR rebel movement the Anti-Balaka who abandoned the movement in these villages. (+10 Militants)

These supplies and militants would be put to good use, for the next objective of the LRA was to return to Uganda. The LRA advances into Uganda, being wise not to avoid government forces. They finally made their way to Kampala, but the city is heavily guarded. A direct attack would be suicide for a force the size of the LRA. Joseph Kony has no choice but to wait in the bush surrounding the city, and avoid any government forces. (LRA positioned near Uganda’s Capital.)

While Kampala is heavily guarded, the LRA decides to strike out against government and military buildings in Uganda. One of these places was the Kalama Armoured Warfare Training School located near Kampala. The LRA decides to make its presence known by attacking here. The attack started off well, with the LRA surprising many of the sleeping 450 undergraduates. However, 5 of them manage to secure a tank, and do some damage to the LRA forces. The LRA managed to stop the tank, but they lost some forces in the progress. (-20 militants, Uganda tank force and army weakened.) (Total Militant Gain = 140)

Ghana
The Ghanaian government starts the month off by beginning a 6 year development plan called the “Village Development Initiative”. The plan will last till 2020, with each year prompting new phases of development. The first aim is to provide free 300 stacks of cement and iron bars to the top 30000 villagers with potential. The initiative does do its job, but it struggles to find villagers who have potential. Few surveys were released and it was hard for the government to find the people to receive the 300 stacks. It will take time just to find the people needed. (Treasury -0.7 billion, GDP +0.02 each turn till turn 6)

The next big project was to elevate Akon to a national language next to English. Akon will be encouraged throughout the nation, especially in Media and education. The idea is to make Ghana a bilingual nation that can speak a national language and a commercial language. The results of this initiative prove to be a rousing success. Akon speakers soon overtake English speakers in the country. Even cultures not associated with Akon are speaking it. This leads to more unity among the cultures of Ghana, and thus leads to more stability. Education also takes a leap since most Ghanaians can now speak two languages instead of one. (Stability: Low Instability -- Neutral, Literacy +7.5%)

The final project of the year was to prepare the town of Atebubu in the center of Ghana as the future capital of Ghana, reducing the dominance of the southern regions. The first stage in this initiative is to prepare railways to link Kumasi and Accra to Atebubu. The development is a success, and soon supplies and workers are quickly being transported to Atebubu to prepare the construction of the nations next capital. This also has increased the infrastructure of Ghana. (Infrastructure: ⅗ -- ⅘)

Lesotho
The Lesotho government has gone through some rough times in the past few months. The Prime Minister recently returned to the country after fleeing a supposed military coup. In order to keep Stability up, the government decided to investigate the people responsible for the coup attempt, including generals and politicians, and arrest them under orders of the king and government. The results have led to 10 arrests of coup leaders and associates, leading to increased stability throughout the kingdom. (Stability: Low Instability -- Neutral)

Lesotho may be small, but its infrastructure has fallen on hard times. Compared to its neighbor that engulfs it, Lesotho has bad infrastructure. The government gets funds to pave roads and increase public transportation. The results are a success, with the new roads criss-crossing the small nation. (Treasury -1.0 billion, Infrastructure: ⅖ -- ⅗)

Morocco
Morocco shocked the international community at the start of this month when it announced that it has declared war on the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and its POLISARIO rebel forces. This violates the UN ceasefire issued in 1991 and has angered the international community. The Moroccan government has tried to persuade governments like the United States and France that Autonomy and Pacification in the Southern Provinces is the right move, but the US and France did not agree. In fact, the UN issued minor economic sanctions against Morocco until it pulls out of the area given to the POLISARIO. (GDP -0.05 billion, Income -0.05 billion, both will last until Morocco is victorious or defeated.)

Even though the sanctions are harsh, the Moroccan People are determined to see the “Southern Provinces” part of Morocco. A recruitment campaign by the military has been received with huge success. Scores of young men line up in front of army recruitment agencies. The military takes in loads of people each day for training and equipping. By the end of the year, tens of thousands of individuals are now part of the Moroccan Army. (+100000 infantry units, Expenses +1.0 billion)

War Orders: See Western Sahara War.

Nigeria
The Nigerian Government starts the year off with an investigation. The investigation is to see if any senior muslim generals and officers in the Nigerian army are selling military hardware to the infamous Boko Haram terrorist group. The result does find corrupt officers siphoning guns and funds under the noose of the Nigerian Government. These officers are promptly arrested and charged with treason. The military is now clean of any officers and superiors who support the Boko Haram (Stability: High Instability -- Unstable)

The government starts another investigation, this time commissioning KPMG auditors to investigate possible corruption in the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation. Unfortunately, the auditors could not find any hard evidence of NNPC workers and Corporate officials being corrupt, and return with very few arrests. (Nothing)

The government has opened dialogue with the British to send military advisors to Nigeria to help train them and equip them with British weapons. The British are happy to comply with Nigeria and immediately send 30 advisors to Nigeria. The army progresses well under these advisors, and as such, the military has improved. (Infantry +1 roll for Nigeria if attacked or defending)

The military then prepares 40000 men, 40 tanks, and 300 pieces of artillery to go into the north and seek out the Boko Haram, and destroy any centers of operation they come across, forcing the terrorists on the defensive. The advance goes well, but the Boko Haram put up a tough fight. They eventually lose ground, but they take some Nigerian soldiers down with them. (-4000 troops, -5 tanks, -10 artillery, Boko Haram strength weakened)

During this advancement, the Nigerian air force sent 40 helicopters and 20 jets to assist the Nigerian advance. The jets are successful in taking out rebel encampments. Striking hard and fast, the air force deals several blows to the Boko Haram. (Boko Haram Weakened)

Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwean government starts the month off by setting up a sort of subsidy for wheat and maize farmers at the output stage. They also top the sales price on certain goods in order to produce incentive to increase agricultural yield. The hope is the farmers will grow more in order to gain more in sales. The plan does work, with some farmers switching from subsistence farming to large scale production farming. Exports and surpluses are achieved via this, and the agricultural section gets a boost. (GDP +0.10, Income +0.10, Agricultural GDP Comp. +3%)

Zimbabwe also decides to establish a more formal water conservation. Before this point, water conservation was left to the individual farmer. The government hopes to create dams and reservoirs to create a more viable waterflow and to instal equipment to decrease evaporation and water run off. This would mean that agriculture would become more efficient in terms of water use. The government is successful in doing this. New reservoirs are established allowed farmers to draw water from more regulated sources, as well as the start of installing devices that limit water loss in fields. (Infrastructure: ⅖ -- ⅗)

Ethiopia
The Ethiopian government does a bold new move in terms of government. The government has decided to restore the old Ethiopian Empire of old. The Ethiopian Empire was established in 1137 after the fall of the Aksumite Kingdom. It existed for over 800 years, and is one of the oldest independent kingdoms of Africa. It was the Empire that threw out the Italians at the battle of Adowa, and resisted Mussolini in WW2. The empire fell in 1974, when a socialist coup overthrew the last king. Now the government has decided to establish a new Empire, one that is more modern. The government has chosen Zera Yacob Amha Selassie, grandson of the last Ethiopian Emperor, and even though the democratic institute objected, they were officially ousted by the new Imperial Army. They now reside in Egypt, and the glorious Second Ethiopian Empire has begun. (Government Changed to Constitutional Monarchy)

Normal Order 2: See Mini Update Below.

The Ethiopian Empire decided as one of its first initiatives to increase the education and literacy, marked as one of the worst in Africa. The empire funds new education reforms and are in the process of increasing literacy throughout the new empire. (Treasury -0.5 billion, Expenses +0.5 billion, Literacy +5.0%)

Tunisia
The Tunisian government starts off the year by investing $900 million dollars into its department of education’s budget. This money will allow them to improve existing schools and give grants to universities across the nation. Although the money and expenses added on are steep, this will hopefully lead to a good long-term improvement. The only problem is the effects will take time. (Treasury -0.9 billion, Expenses +0.10 billion, Literacy +5% in two turns, Education Level: Average -- Above Average in two turns)

The government also decides to expand major ports in the cities of Gabes and Tunis. The government allocates 1 billion dollars to do so. However, corruption in the government starts to siphon off the cash to certain politicians. In the end, by the time the money reaches the ports, there is not enough left to begin construction. The project is cancelled and the treasury takes a hit, but luckily that is all. (Treasury -1.0 billion)

While the ports were losing money, the electrical infrastructure was improved in Tunisia. Several Large Solar Panels were built across the country, with the intention of selling it to civilians and Europeans. While the power is not enough to transfer large amounts of power abroad, civilians have started to switch from fossil fuels to the new solar power being presented. The solar panels also offer new jobs to Tunisians, thus boosting the economy a bit. (Treasury -1.0 billion, GDP +0.10, Income +0.10)

The Tunisian Military also begins cracking down on the Algerian-Tunisian border. Militants in Algeria have been rumoured to be digging tunnels and hideouts used to smuggle weapons, drugs, and people, into the country. The military began a search of the border, and found seven armed terrorists groups in their camps. The groups were quickly eliminated, making Tunisia a more stable place. One group was noted crossing the border into Algeria, and the Tunisian government began to question the border control on the Algerian side. (Stability: Low Instability -- Neutral)

War Order 2: See Libyan Civil War.

Algeria
The Algerian government starts the month off by calling on the reserves of Algeria. They are to be mustered in Military District 4, which so happened to be a military deployment on the Algerian-Moroccan border. While the POLISARIO have set up their government inside Algeria, and Algeria supports an independent Western Sahara, it is unknown if the POLISARIO have called for its ally. (+50000 Infantry, Expenses +0.5 billion)

Rest of Orders: See Western Sahara War.

Egypt
The Egyptian Government starts the month off by hiring foreign workers from the Dutch Royal BAM Group to work on canals and waterworks to make side-tracts from the Nile River to the desert. The reason for this is due to the fact that while Egypt is big, most people live on an area the size of Belgium. The company does do a good job in the start of the contract. Already 5% of land previously arid is now inhabitable. The contract is set for two years, but already the effects are great. Yet the cost for this project is great. (Treasury -3 Billion, GDP +0.75 billion in one turn, GDP Agriculture Composition +5%)

The government also begins to allocate money into public transportation. Most notably is the funding for the bus system in Cairo and Alexandria. While most people are not fans of riding buses in hot areas like these, the government eventually convinces people to take the bus and frees up most roads from congested traffic. (Treasury -0.5 billion, Infrastructure: ⅘ Poor --- ⅕ Good)

The Egyptian government also begins a massive Tourism campaign. They use the claim that Egypt is safe again, and urge tourists to visit the Nile Valley and the Red Sea Riviera. However this fails miserably, most people are afraid of something happening between the people and the military. In-fact, tourism rates drop further after this campaign ends! Now only a few Russians occupy the now empty hotels. (Treasury -0.1 billion, GDP -0.10 billion)

War Orders: See Libyan Civil War

Libya
Marshal law is declared throughout all the lands that the Libyan government controls. This was undoubtedly a good move by General Haftar. At the price of throwing democracy off the edge of a cliff, and getting rid of the notion of free press, the government’s propaganda has caused some Libyans to join with the government. (Government changed to Martial Law State, Infantry +5000, Expenses +0.05 billion)

The Libyan navy also sees an upgrade when the government allocates funds to the building of large vessels. The government however could only obtain 2 Frigates from the Dutch, and some out-class ships from the United States, and no Submarines as well. Also the government buys tanks from Russia, and 10 T62 tanks are ready to be used by the Libyan Government. (+12 Frigates, +10 Tanks, Treasury -2.0 billion, Expenses +0.40 billion)

War Orders: See Libyan Civil War

Madagascar
The Malagasy Government starts the month off by trying to attract foreign companies. Foreign business men were hesitant to go to Madagascar. However, one company wanted Ilmenite, and Madagascar sits on one of the biggest deposits in the world. United States Steel need the Ilmenite to help line their blast furnaces to increase the effectiveness of the creation of Steel. USS sets up a mining operation to mine the Ilmenite near Antananarivo. (GDP +0.15, Income +0.15.)

The Government also allocates funds to improve the education system in Madagascar. Literacy in Madagascar was a bit bad, much more so compared to its mainland neighbors. However, the funds prove to be a success. Schools are reformed to allow for a better teaching environment, and the effects are seen almost immediately. (Treasury -0.5 billion, Literacy +5%)

Botswana
Botswana has always been a place of economic growth, and is considered the most stable place in Africa. However, when the Botswana government allocated funds to their universities, problems began to arise. The money that went to the Universities was not going into developing the universities. This troubled the School Board, and an investigation found out that the money was being stolen by the staff of the school. Most of the staff was laid off for embezzlement, and soon, many students were being denied entry do to the universities being understaffed. This led to a drop in the Literacy of the population. (Treasury -0.5 billion, Literacy -4%)

Botswana also had trouble in developing its economic sector. It invested large sums of money into an internet utilities in order to increase connectivity and production. The plan backfired when the system was unprepared for all the traffic. Like a bad multiplayer game without enough servers at launch, the system continuously crashed, making the internet system useless. (Treasury -1.0 billion, GDP -0.05)

Kenya
The Kenyan Government starts the year off by doing something a bit unprecedented. 20 Tanks, 10 jets and helicopters, and 2,000 soldiers are sent to Somalia on a "Peace Keeping" mission. They never really returned, and the Kenyan people wondered what happened to them. Then, reporters uncovered documents that those soldiers were not sent to Somalia to keep the peace, but to aid Al-Shabaab! This caused an outrage among the Kenyan People, for it was Al-Shabaab that attacked the Nairobi Mall a few years ago and killed Kenyan citizens! The population immediately began protesting the government, especially by non-fundamentalist muslims, christians, and family members of the victims of the Nairobi Mall incident. (Stability: High Instability -- Very High Instability, -20 Tanks, -10 jets, -10 Helicopters, -2000 Infantry, Expenses -0.2 billion)

The government allocated funds to build up the infrastructure in Kenya, especially in Nairobi. The project aims to improve road conditions in the city, and expand the traffic network farther outside the city limits. The project is a success, and Nairobi's new roads that are freshly paved are used to transport civilians and cargo across the city. (Treasury -1.0 billion, Infrastructure: 2/5 -- 3/5)

((Let me know if I messed up prices and stuff.)

Western Sahara War and a Surprise Attack

For over 50 years, Western Sahara has been a place of conflict. Whether it was Moroccan troops entering into it for occupation, the POLISARIO fighting back, or the fragile ceasefire the UN put in place. Now that ceasefire was officially broken this year, with Morocco declaring war on Western Sahara and the POLISARIO. The world was shocked by this act of aggression, and sanctions were put in place for Morocco. However with a bulk of troops ready to be disposed, Morocco was ready for war.

The first attacks came from the air. The Moroccan Air Force was launched into the region, its objective was to bomb key targets. However, the bombers could not find anything, for the POLISARIO hid in the terrain. Not to mention most of the most important targets were in Algeria, including the government, so the bombers were called off.

The next attacks came from within on the Moroccan front. In Casablanca, members of the terrorist group the GIA, were caught stirring up crowds. The GIA however, originate in Algeria. It is widely believed that the DRS, the Algerian Intelligence, infiltrated the terrorist group and are now in control, using them to wreck havoc on their enemies. While it was not proven these GIA members were being used by Algeria, their motives failed. They wanted to stir up dissent against the war effort, but the Moroccan people stood for their king and heavily believed that Morocco had all rights to Western Sahara.

Morocco finally made its first advance into Western Sahara in the Northern section of the country. The Moroccan army was ordered not to cross the Berm line, and instead shoot anyone advancing from the other direction, as well as pelting the region was high-ranged artillery. In order to keep on the offensive, the Moroccan army sent a unit of special forces into the Northern Region. They crossed the gap in the north and advanced towards the towns of Bir Lahlou and Tifarit. The army at the end of the offensive was in control of the region. (Northern Western Sahara under control by Morocco)

That does not mean the POLISARIO did not put up a fight. In fact, the rebels were well trained and had good equipment. It is well known knowledge that the POLISARIO's best ally is Algeria, and it is rumored the Algerians have sent troops and supplies to the POLISARIO, but no hard evidence exists to determine that. The POLISARIO put up a hell of a fight in the North, taking out thousands of Moroccan troops, but they eventually had to flee south. (Morocco: Infantry -2500, Tanks -10, Artillery -15| Algeria: Infantry -3000, Artillery -30, Treasury -0.10 billion)

A Surprise Attack

Western Sahara was not the only region that was affected by war. In east Africa, on the morning of November 5th, 2014, Eritrea was having a day like no other. In the town of Mendefera, the people were having a nice sunny November Morning, then everything changed in a heartbeat. Jets began flying over head, tanks rolled into town, and Infantry men marched into the town. This was the beginning of the Ethiopian Invasion of Eritrea.

Eritrea was once part of Ethiopia. For 50 years, Eritrea was part of the Ethiopian Empire, having been annexed by Ethiopia. In 1993, Eritrea, following a UN sanctioned referendum, was declared an independent nation. Ethiopia lost its last port to the Red Sea.

Now with the rise of the Second Ethiopian Empire, the Emperor in Addis Ababa looked to reclaim the empire of his grandfather and ancestors. The surprise attack took Eritrea completely off guard. Soon the Ethiopian Army was advancing near the capital of Asmara. The Eritrean Army was outnumbered, outgunned, and surprised attack, was on the verge of annexation. The UN argues that Ethiopia was invading a soverign nation, while Ethiopia argues Eritrea was responsible for supposedly planting bombs in the African Union Summit in Addi Ababa. None the Less, sanctions were put in place. The Eritreans did take some Ethiopian troops down, but that is nothing. (Ethiopia: Infantry -5000, Tanks -30, Artillery -40, Jets -5, Helicopters -7, GDP -0.10, Income -0.10, will last till end of conflict, Ethiopia now controls Ethiopia-Eritrean Border and towns around it.)
