Hello,

One of the most major things within the Medieval world are Holy Orders. However we only see a fraction of them in the game. What we see are the fighting orders, ala templars. What we do not see, and what were more important were the other holy orders, Such as the Franscians, Benedictines, Cistercians, Augustinians and so on. While the fighting orders were important and are a fascinating subject, the non-military holy orders were much more influential and powerful within the medieval society. Many came out to help vitalize the faith and help handle the issues relating to heresy.

So here is how I would do this:

Similar to trade posts, you would have another build opition this time for monstaries. Like trade Posts you can only build one dedicated to a holy order(with all the politics that come with it). This would give you some benifits, some orders might increase tech speed, some might decrease revolt risk and so on. Building them would help increase the Moral Authority of the faith, and thus help prevent heresies from poping up. In addition when you send someone to join a monstary or nunnery, you would get to pick which order they join.

With a few tweaks it could be easily adapted for things like Sufi Orders or priesthood orders of Polytheistic faiths.

This is just some ideas that I have, I am curious on hearing how others would respersent these Holy Orders in the game.

sincerely,

First we would need the non-military aspects of the game to be better fleshed out

Also heresies would need to be more threatening, like if a heresiarch succeeds in taking a province then other provinces begin to have other heretic revolts which coalesce into a large heretical confederacy, giving players incentive to put them down before they become dangerous

Having an age of peace isn't all that fun because your ruler has nothing to do

I never understand why monasteries should be like trade post... There were so many in germany and just few bishoprics. If they add them bishoprics should be like trading posts and monasteries as a own bulding.

One way or another we need them right ;)
