Because this game is guaranteed to be released via Steam and is likewise guaranteed to have Steam achievements, let us go and guess/suggest what they should be...

Destroyer of Worlds: Use a atomic bomb.

A Thousand Year Reich: As Germany, occupy or puppet all of continental Europe.

A Different Empire: As above, except as Britain.

Napoleon's Ambition: As above, except as France.

New World to the Old: As above, except as the United States.

Hell March: As above, except as the Soviet Union.

Drang Nach Osten: As Germany, conquer the Soviet Union.

Sputnik: As the Soviet Union, fire a ballistic missile (atomic warhead optional) at the United States.

Kamikaze Unnecessary: As Japan, conquer the United States.

To Grow Larger: As China, occupy or puppet all of Asia.

I would love it if we actually had all sorts of creative and funny achievements like in Anno 1404. They give you basic achievements, but they also have a wealth of "secret" achievements you can unlock, such as naming a ship Discovery or playing the game at between three and five o'clock in the morning. Most games I play have pretty... uninspired achievements, it's mostly "make this much money", "complete the tutorial" or "beat a level". You can Google "Anno 1404 achievements" for specific examples. FTL had some good ones, too. They weren't that creative, but many of them were memorable and fun to pursue.

Some ideas for 'secret achievements':
One Bridge Too Far: lose a division to encirclement in enemy territory.

Viking raid: launch an amphibious assault on a UK home province as a Scandinavian nation.

Call me Captain Miller: defeat a Heavy Armour division with a Militia division.

Right on time: launch the game's first amphibious assault on Europe as the Allies on June 6th, real life time.

Der Untergang: as Germany, keep playing until the enemy takes Berlin.

Survivors: have a divison hold in place and fight off five enemy assaults.

One Man Army: have only a single man left in a division after a battle.

Ahead of Schedule: as the Soviet Union, deploy at least one cruise missile (think V1/V2) with a nuclear warhead on Cuba.

Bring it on: as a minor nation, end up at war with the Allies, Axis and Comintern simultaneously.

U-96: as Germany, have 96 submarines in service simultaneously.

Homage: name a ship Podcat.

Whatever the cost may be: as Britain, lose 10 000 men defending the British home islands from invasion forces.

Great Ambitions: as Luxemburg, declare war on Germany.

Where's Germany again?: as the USA, last until 1945 without declaring war on an Axis power.

Remember the Alamo: as the USA, declare war on Mexico.

Nothing learned from history: as Germany, allow a land force in Stalingrad to be completely surrounded.

Holding the Wall: as Germany, allow no Allied invasion attempts on the European continent to succeed.

Fine on our own: as the Allies or Comintern, defeat Germany or Japan before the USA enters the war.

Not one step back: as the Soviet Union, hold Leningrad, Moscow, Sevastopol and Stalingrad for the duration of the war.

Skipping ahead: as Germany, declare war on France or Britain before having declared war on or annexed Austria, Slovakia or Poland.

Pre-emptive attack: as Poland, declare war on Germany or the Soviet Union.

Turning the tables: as Israel (released by UK), capture Berlin.

Blitzkrieg: as Germany, capture Poland in a very short time (unsure how long, but significantly shorter than average).
