As each new DLC is added to CK2, it keeps running slower. So I was wondering, is it possible, whether via mods or as a suggestion to developers, to have the option to remove regions that you don't want to play? Like to grey them out like China currently is, so that the AI doesn't need to process characters or lineage.

I can imagine this being useful if someone only wanted to focus on India, or the Near East, or Scandanavia. Etc.

Is this possible?

There are performance mods.

They haven't been updated a number of patches though. It's too bad, because they helped me run the game smoothly before. I think the devs are not longer active and there aren't enough of us with bogged down performance to atract interest.
It's also supposedly to be very simple, easy modding so the experienced players just dl the old files and update them themselves for their personal use.
