I recently bought Warlock 2 after I had a lot of fun with Warlock.

After one playthrough I noticed that there are no real roads. Especially endgame reenforcing is a huge pain in my butt. So my request regarding roads is:
- add roads (a building build on top of everthing even portals and everywhere execept not impassable terrain)
- very low mana upkeep (so it dosen't get spammed)
- destroyable or occupiable via a unit (owner should be able to destroy it by itself)
- a unit should be able to travers a world within one turn (not including entering/leaving)
- Cities should autoconnect

I think that would make the game better.

ATM Buildings act like roads, you get movement bonuses when moving across them. Personally I like it how it is, as it requires you to plan your building placement. Though it does get annoying when special cities can't connect.

With the intruduction of spcial cities transportation got way more annoying. Don't get me wrong I like that special cities but you only can have a very limited number of normal cities. So in the long run it is very annoying to transport new troops somewhere (thus high speed transportation is needed and teleport doesn't count because you can't transport a whole army with that). Placing buildings doesn't include portals and marching get very annoying especially with some sort of bad terrain in place. I too used to build building "roads" and plan my transprotation network but that is pretty much obsolete. I just want the game to adapt to a new feature.

Buildings as road is actually very nice and simplify gameplay and coding. I hate special cities and simply don't use them, I disabled them in my mod. I played civ 5 recently, and I think the puppet cities and way much more useful. They should use a system similar to that.

My only complaint is that some terrain are pretty slow. Ex swamp cost 3 move. In my mod, I managed to give all units 3 or 5 movement depending if they were on foot or mounted. I would have loved to change the move cost of terrain from 2 to 1.5 and from 3 to 2, but I'll have to do further testing with the XML. Because the set of tags I found does not work.

At the moment, as larienna stated, building a structure on a hex will also provide that hex with roads. I haven't heard anything about it from the dev team. But as with all changes, they are usually way more complex than you would imagine at first.

Develloping good AI is hard. If there is an important location that the AI should need to go to, like a portal, it would be better for him to build a city nearby that portal and hope that the city managing Ai will indirectly make a road of buildings to it.

Personally, I like the simplified city management of warlock compared to Civ V. That is a thumb up that I have to give them. Even if the buildings stats are flawed, the place 1 building per pop on the map is ingenius.
