So I was just looking through cultural retinues on the ckiiwiki, and noticed that Nubian culture appears to get 100% Longbows with +60% Archer Offense.

I believe this is the same composition and buff as the Welsh and English Longbows.

Just wondering if anyone could lend some in-game experience as to the efficacy of Nubian Longbows?

Yeah, the retinue files say they get +60% offensive archers, just like the English.

Seems to be a recent change, but yes, they get pure archers. They're inferior to the English and Welsh ones because they don't get the Massive Longbow Volley, however.

Do you know if importing a Welsh general would allow use of that tactic with the Nubian retinue?

Yes. Tactic availability is determined by culture of general.

Strange... do they get some other tactic? (I've not ever played a Nubian).

I've been playing a Nubia campaign for a couple days now, and they don't seem to get any special tactics. Which would explain why they're the same as English/Welsh Longbows statistically, but are still only 70% of the maintenance cost.

On the bright side, pure Longbows are still amazing for sieges, and in battle they're just low-budget horse archers.
