Expiry Date for "Request Invasion"

Currently playing as Venice and I decided to try the "Request Invasion" mechanic with the Pope on the HRE. So I got the request, but I had to wait a bit for the truce to expire. I believe I waited 2 years. Then, lo and behold, when the truce expires I discover I no longer have the invasion CB! The Kng hasn't died. All that Piety wasted AAARGH! Is the CB time-limited, and if so, how long is it?

I am fairly certain there was no timer, I used to use invasions all the time and never had a problem. Did your ruler who requested the invasion die?

Perhaps it uses the same time limit as prepared invasions also.

Did the pope actually grant it??? I have requested invasions and he said no. Either that or the ruler you were going to invaded died or the pope died.

The Pope is still alive. So is my ruler. So is the Emperor. Everyone is alive and well - I made the request just 2 years ago. You need 500 piety, less territory than your target, and 100 relations with the pope.
