Alright, update is here! I'm going to try a new form of writing here, as a difference from my previous "to the point" way I wrote. This is because of the mod, and it deserves some pretty good respect.
~I All roads lead to Washington I~
1921-1933
The name is Reginald Bartlett, but you can call me Bart.
Now, I gotta say, the Great War was pretty violent. I mean, my boy Sam got shipped off to Europe at '17, but he died fighting the Germans. It was just like nothing could hold back the Germans from achieving their victory. I swear, it has to do with their ways of being able to win wars, as is their tradition with their past monarchs, more specifically, Fredrick the Great. So anyways, I still stay in the US because it is a land of opportunity. After the war, I vowed I would never send another one of my boys to fight in any war after what happened to Sam. At least today, 4 years later, the folks up in D.C. finally decided to enact the Universal way of voting, so now my oldest boy of 19 can vote. Also they finally made a new bank! Finally, a place to put my hard-earned money!
For once, the folks up in Washington got some sense now to think what is right for our country!
Now the Germans at this point have decided to make an empire for themselves. I mean, they literally own most of Europe! At least their Austrian-Hungarian counterparts did not survive the war, but nevertheless, they Kaiser rules supreme in Europe. France is nothing but a laughing stock at this point, and the English are having trouble maintaining their Empire in the wake of their defeat at the hands of the Germans. The Turks managed not to fall apart-barely-and actually manage to be some what of a force in the Middle East.
Looks like the Kaiser let Bulgaria build themselves a bit of an Empire there.
The next big thing from what I heard from the government is a thing called "limited access roads". Apparently this is suppose to make getting from one place to another easier, but of course, I have my doubts. I mean, how can we improve our roads if we have not even been able to improve our economy? It has been a flop so far, but it is getting somewhat better. Woodrow Wilson sure has the guts to bring the country into this mess but then again, what can I say about the President? We Americans are still not worried about an involvement in Europe, and besides we managed to stay the way we are. The English though had it rougher. Their happiness there in the Empire is fading, and for all I care, most of us Americans just wanna see the red empire die already.
They seem to be taking a turn for the worse here.
Later, the roaring Twenties, as people have been calling them, turn up. Our new president elect Warren G. Harding decided to do the right thing an enact what he calls "boom time" polices. I mean, with the potential for economic dominance present, it would be in the nations best interest to enact policies that will encourage the boom through new immigration, lower taxation, and deregulation of all industries. In the meantime in Europe, they just keep on tearing themselves apart. While they do that, we Americans found out one of our Pacific Island by the name of Pitcairn has decided to become a full part of our United States, even if they are just an obscure territory in our vast Empire. Also we get our upper house elected based on population. Now perhaps Congress can get the boom times rolling! Now, for a newspaper:
My father used to make newspapers down south in Mananas, but that was before we moved to New York.
We finally got our roads we needed. Perhaps I can get over to the west and take a break from the boom here in New York City. Synthetic Polymers are now the next big thing in our government's think-tank. On top of that, they decided to grant the Panama canal we have statehood! Can you think of it, the state of Panama? This canal is smaller than Rhode Island! Now, we hear the poor Italians are dealing with being on the allied side of the Great War. Apparently, some guy by the name of Benito Mussolini came up with the ideal of Fascism that has already taken over France and their military council and has ordered a march on Rome with his supporters, named "black shirts". We here in the states are lucky that our government is still strong enough to provide us with our meals and deals, but over there, they are in a civil war over beard. Come on, bread!? I know the country was defeated by the Germans, but now them tearing themselves apart is pretty bad. Even the French
conseil militaire is doing far better than their Italian counterparts. Oh wait...
Aperently, the the irony is that here, the Fascist are now dealing with a population that wants to see the "last Bonaparte" returned to his glory.
I can't blame them for their odd ideals. They are the French of course, and with losing a war twice in a row, they are sure to get uppity. I swear Harding got a stroke after he heard that, cause now he is dead. Calvin Coolidge is now our President for the time being. The irony is getting bigger and bigger every day. This time around, the Italian Royal government crushed the revolt of the fascist in Northern Italy, but now the French military council has to defeat a royalist revolt in the South of the country. At least in Russia, their own civil war has ended, and for once the Socialist there have defeated the Tsarists government. So anyways, back to America. Coolidge has decided that we need to expand even more. Even if the South is no longer wanting to spread their slavery to the other parts of our North American land mass, the American people need to see action happen. My personally, I don't see a reason why our boys ought to go to war again over our fellow Americans once again, even if they more more...central.
Honduras is a fine place to start off, but they seem too big and yet lack a decent population.
Of course the Central American nation is going to hate us afterwords, but at least we have some sort of place to practice our troops before the government decides to get smart and take out Canada. The Russian in the meanwhile under their benevolent ruler Stalin have decided that they needed to industrialize and make industry, even if it kills alot of their population. Okay, so maybe the Central American state already knew about our imperial ambitions, cause they started crying like a baby, and now the rest of the world think we are the new bully in the neighborhood. They ought to fix their own states than picking on us for being so über successful. Finally, the war starts.
I heard the Honduran president Miguel Paz Barahona cursed our nation into kingdom come with his Papist outcries.
So the 1st Corps under the command of General Nathaniel Wallace invaded the country with the creepiness of modern American militarism. Our nation has never been so imperialistic since the days we defeated the Spanish and got all their worldly possessions in America and Asia. Our 1st Corps 42,000 men strong, ended up occupying the regions of the Central American state in no time flat. Finally, he went up and found their general. I frankly find these new "airplanes" and armors" pretty overpowering to the small young republic, but what can I say: It is the American way to be overpowered.
The battle of Comayagua say the president of Honduras flee the country and find safe keeping in El Salvador.
Finally, the local governments (or at least what was left of them) finally accept the government of the US to surrender. I have to admit, the new speck of blue in the map of our United States make me proud to be an American. Woot! Our fellows in England though have nothing to woot about, cause I heard this morning that the general strike that the socialist have been planning for a bit now has come into effect and destabilized the country. The monarchs of the British Empire have made their way to Canada for the time being, and now the worse thing that has happened after the Russian revolution is another communist state in the world. It seems the sun finally set on the Brits.
Now we can trike Canada, and by jingo we can do it now in the middle of an economic boom!
The Fascist in France finally beat the last Bonaparte in their civil war, and now all of Europe is at peace. Nothing is even better in America, as we build our armies large than they have been since the war between the states. Coolidge already has been clear his intentions to annex the other Central American states before the century is out. I bet we can do it in less then 50 years though, cause once this train is turning, there is no going back. In China, which finally decided to overthrow the Qing government there, a new Red-head was spotted somewhere in the South of China by the name of Mao Zedong. Man this red tide is going over the world! At least here it has not grown too big. Back in the states, Coolidge made his promise clear by declaring war on the Central American republic of El Salvador.
The Turks are going suicidal here, but that does not compare to the Peruvian nation. Perhaps we ought to get the South American States some time, eh?
The same thing occurs like our last war, but this one lasted longer cause the 1st Corps was away at the border between us and Canada (apparently for "training"). Our nation is just getting bigger and bigger every day, huh. Even if this war did last for over a year, the important thing is that we got more land. El Salvador though is still too small for our nation.
Our blue region is growing even more. Huzzah!
We celebrate this victory by nominating the state of Puerto Rico into the state as the 50th state in the Union. I got folks there who immigrated to the small island back from the days of the Civil War to avoid the draft the confederate government was handing out to all able-bodied men. Coolidge once more later today enacted new legislation that called for the establishment of a national healthcare law for all citizens. Of course, it is not getting there yet, but it is trinket enough for me to be of some effect. But alas, our boom times have come crashing down...
I ended up loosing all me money from the Bank this afternoon!
Apparently, our government thought it was a great idea to think about Mass State-Media and the International Stock Market. Piety on those investors. Herbert Hoover may of inherited this mess from Coolidge, but I think that the worse will come to pass over time. We need to annex more states, not try to annex ourselves into submission! The 1st thing Hoover did was enact new law to upgrade the healthcare Coolidge started to "low" healthcare. Honestly, while it is a welcome, what I need from our government is legislation to get us out of this mess and not to bring me back to health, because I am still perfectly healthy. Hover also decided to bring the idea of Street Roads into the government think tank and even upgrade healthcare to acceptable levels. At least here in New York city, the construction of the Empire State Building is done.
My son Tyler is soon going to work there. He seems pretty eager for someone whose job it is to just sort out papers all day.
Hoover later decided to enact good healthcare, bringing us to the levels of our British counterparts and the Swiss. He also decided to continue the legacy of Coolidge by declaring his intentions to annex the Central American State of Guatemala. Honduras was too big yet too under populated, El Salvador was too small in general, but Guatemala with their large population and their Iron-producing region near Mexico is just right! By jingo, we got ourselves a plan running! Hoover also went to the think tank and ordered for "Fractional Reserve Banking" to be researched. Frankly, we do need more money things, because the depression is going to bog us down. On top of that, he finally did something with our nation's educational problem by enacting an acceptable school system into our constitution! Meanwhile in Germany...
At least they also got the guts to make their own roads.
This time, the think tank has started to develop the military idea of Combined Arms. Our military will need to keep in touch with the rest of the world if we want to be a world power. Guatemala, actually, will be our next target, according to Hoover. Their army is relatively small, but ours is bigger, and better! I have to admit, it went the same as the 1st war we have in Central America, and it is not worth telling a story, but still we now have more Iron! Even after we won the war, the people decided that Hoover had to go, and in comes FDR who bares the famous "Roosevelt" name.
A guy with action...and action now!
FDR then decided to put in hos new deal policies. Let's get the ball roolling!
In his acceptance speech, Roosevelt declared, "I pledge you, I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people… This is more than a political campaign. It is a call to arms." The election campaign was conducted under the shadow of the Great Depression in the United States, and the new alliances which it created. Roosevelt and the Democratic Party mobilized the expanded ranks of the poor as well as organized labor, ethnic minorities, urbanites, and Southern whites, crafting the New Deal coalition. I myself voted for FRD cause I needed action and action now. And boy did he deliver it.
(//Thats the end of this update. I'd like feedback on how this type of writing helps out. Thanks for those who already took an interest in the AAR.)
