Welcome, lords and ladies, to Where one dies many follow - A game of ice and fire hosted by myself and various others to aid me.
(also: spoilers pretty much a lot, would say all-ish)

The Setting: Robert Baratheon's Death

Eddard Stark has just entered the chambers where Robert Baratheon, the "usurper", lays dying, and has spoken with him his last words, after the disastrous hunt in the woods. Now, with Robert's last breath, Eddard Stark leaves his chambers, with nothing but a letter in his hands and a promise given to Robert on his deathbed, but so far no one knows neither content of the letter, nor or his last words. It is now the duty of Eddard Stark, the hand of the former King to ensure the succession and stability in the realm, but many would profit, if this were not to be the case.

How this game works:

Unlike most forum games, where the game is organized by turns and updates, this game will attempt to create a rather dynamic flow of updates and orders.
As such, there are various types of orders players can send:

Strategic Orders: Mostly reserved for the characters that are landed, unless you have a specific strategic order, are rather long term and could for example be - Ready another 500 men to defend the neck in case of war - Hire privateers to sail in our fleet

Those are rather long-term actions and deal mostly with your realm rather than person and information on the world. Strategic Orders are queued up, so once there is an in-thread notification that your strategic order is done, you can send another one.

Personal Orders: These are actions what your character should do or will be doing, if you want to, following my consent you can also post your action yourself (assuming it doesn't need a special dice roll) and certain Personal Orders will lead to other people having reaction orders upon them. Depending what your personal Orders are, you may only have 1 or multiple ones. For example:

Personal Orders Doran Martell:
1. Send Oberyn Martell to court (assuming Oberyn isn't played by a person, otherwise Oberyn will get the request - this doesn't take much time though so he can also do)
2. Educate my son Trystane in political tactics (which does take his personal time)

Thus there is no real static limit on those, but try to keep it somewhat sane for my sake.

Reaction Orders: Those can be done by anyone and deal with reacting to a certain event, you absolutely HAVE to send those if specified under an update, otherwise your character will miss an important chance to do something.
They could for example be - Claim the throne as result of Robert's death - Read out the letter

Public and Unpublic updates:

There will be public updates on the game, which are, because of bystanders, or lack of special interest public. For example, court sessions will always be public, whilst a secret meeting and its results will only be sent to the players themselves. Another type of public update are events that aren't known to everybody, but don't require secrecy so that you have something to read - mostly.

When/How this game will start:

After this post, I will reserve another one for the first stats and a map (which have yet to be made) but you can already sign up. The game starts with Robert's last words to Eddard Stark and the letter, to which Eddard Stark will make a public announcement in court - (as in a reaction order to the letter) - which will trigger other reaction orders.

Signups:

There are various tiers of original canon characters, according to their importance - who are absolutely necessary for the game. Those in the "most important" tier are:

The Lords Paramount - Doran Martell, Eddard Stark, Renly Baratheon, Lysa Arryn (representing young Robin Arryn), Tywin Lannister, Edmure Tully, (ruling for old Hoster Tully), Balon Greyjoy
Special Rule: Should someone prefer Olenna Tyrell, the mind behind the Reach, she can be used instead of Mace Tyrell - both work for me. - should both be requested, there can also be 2 players for those two.

Stannis Baratheon, the Lord of Dragonstone
Joffrey Baratheon-Lannister, supposed son of the late King Robert
Cersei Lannister, former wife of Robert Baratheon
Ser Barristan Selmy, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard

The secondary tier consists of:

Lord Petyr Baelish, Master of Coin for the Iron Throne, paymaster of the City Watch
Jamie Lannister, Kingsguard, son of Tywin
Varys, the spider, Master of Whispers for the Iron Throne
Various important wives, children and brothers can be requested as secondary tier: e.g. Catelyn Tully, Tyrion Lannister, the Tyrrell children, the Stark Children, Theon Greyjoy, Aeron Greyjoy, Kevan Lannister (be reminded that young children are kinda limited in their actions though)
Special Rule: Should the Eddard Stark player request it, because of his precarious situation he may reserve one of the Stark Children in case of his death.
Daenerys Targaryen, Wife of Khal Drogo
Jorah Mormont (if Daenerys is taken)

Other characters:

I'll be more than happy to see other interesting characters as well, and should you want to invent someone into the story he will likely start at the bottom of the row, but could become someone like e.g. Bronn not-yet Stokeworth. Some minor Lords can also be interesting, e.g. Randyll Tarly, Greatjon Umber, Lord too-fat-to-sit-a-horse Manderly etc.

Signups will be closed once i feel like there's enough people already, especially regarding the current court. Feel free to make multiple picks, it increases your chance of being in the game. I will decide upon who gets whom depending on personal knowledge and other things.

For those unfamiliar with the story:

Should you be unfamiliar with the story of Asoiaf, this is no real problem, just say that you like to play and i will recommend you a character, explain his loyalties etc. , although it obviously will not be the most important character at game-start, the story will develop in here and allow you to get deeply involved as it develops.

Olenna Tyrell "The Queen of Thorns"

Please and thank you.

Lord Petyr Baelish for me please.

Eddard Stark

Daenerys Stormborn, for Fire and Blood

Plank of wood: considering your orders could only be 1. "hodor" 2. "Hodor?" - that would not quite fit the game, sorry (also hodor isn't really important yet ;) (obv Hodor is azor ahai and the last of the giants) )

According to the current sign-ups there is still need for some cray cray women, most notably Lysa Arryn and Cersei Lannister, as well as Tywin and the last major claimant Joffrey Baratheon - Balon Greyjoy isn't a must at this point, because of their low court influence but would still be good.
