I'd like to have vassals not necessarily become PART OF my kingdom.

be able to hold a large swath of land - a duchy or even a kingdom - and have it remain seperate on the map. Like in Europa Univeralis. Vassals don't become part of your land.

But them being a vassal is what makes them a part of your land, it's how the game works. It's not based around nations, it's based around your character and their titles/vassals. If you want to see vassals, just use the 'direct vassals' map mode.

The core of EU is a nation, in CK it's a dynasty. So they're not really part of your camp, as vassals are competing with your dynasty too and are, more often than not, trying to get your crown. The only real allies I can think of are family members (when they aren't plotting to get your crown too).
