Hi guys.

As you know, in CK2 you can pilgrimage to holy places if you are a Christian, you can go to Jerusalem, Rome, Santiago de Compostela etc., but which of this places is best to visit? I mean - which of them gives you best events/best traits?

It seems to me - and this is not backed up by any kind of research, just my subjective impressions - that the further from my capital I go, the longer the pilgrimage takes and the more events can spawn. I'm usually furthest from Jerusalem, so I usually go there to give it the most possible time.

In my experience Jerusalem is the only place that can give the "sympathy for Judaism" trait which is useful if you have Jewish councilors.

I took a look at the event file (Which is absolutely massive btw, they really put in a lot of work)
If you're "eastern" christian; Orthodox, Nestorian and their heresies, you can visit Jerusalem, Constantinople and Antioch.
If you're Mia/Monophysite you can visit Jerusalem, Antioch and Axum
If you're Catholic or one of the heresies, you can visit any site (Except Axum)

A Catholic ruler living in any of the holy sites will visit Jerusalem, if he lives in Jerusalem he will visit Rome.
Visiting Canterbury and Cologne is unlocked at year 1170 and 1164 respectively.

Choosing a longer Journey will add more events to the possible event-list.
Depending on the site, you will also have the Holy Order events with holy orders active in that area.

When you arrive you will get the resulting experience-event based on traits you have, and partially randomly.
As Kapitalisti says, Jerusalem have the added event of sympathy for Judaism/Islam.

TL;DR
Pick sites long away for more events, pick Jerusalem for sympathy trait

I don't know that particular use of the word mash, but I get the drift. How, though?
Pause the game, click the decision as many times as you want, unpause.
The decision doesn't use "immediate= {set_character_flag = started_pilgramage}" and instead puts that in the option block of the decision, allowing for abuse.

I kind of wish you could do a 'grand tour': Rome to Constantinople to Antioch and ending in Jerusalem. Depending on where you start you could stop at Canterbury and or Cologne on the way to Rome.

I mean if I'm going all the way from Dublin to Jerusalem, I might as well cross some other places off the bucket list.

I also wish that you could make more pilgrimages in your life, rather than only once. If you're a zealous man whom's faith takes priority above all, you're hardly gonna visit one holy site and go 'Yeahhhhhh, that's me done.'

Referring to the bold part . . . well that is a shame, cause given you can only do it once, and it can be over *piff* like that and result in absolutely NOTHING except a useless even and a piety gain, I don't actually find it adds that much to the game.

Not as bad as EUIV, but the events and 'roleplaying' aspects of this otherwise wonderful game remain, IMHO rather uninspiring.

+1 Quite normal practice for the times.

Thanks! Zigzag tour, here I come!

Actually I was thinking of events here. Decisions don't use immediate.
What the decision is...
Code:
catholic_pilgrimage = {
		potential = {
			has_dlc = "Sons of Abraham"
			is_ruler = yes
			religion_group = christian
			NOT = { trait = pilgrim }
			NOT = { has_character_flag = do_not_disturb }
