It has been one day since the Filipino nation has been freed from the yoke of the Spanish after decades of independence war... All thanks to the dear leader. He is the one who realized that the Spanish oppressors were weak due to Napoleonic wars, and he managed to take the golden opportunity to free the Filipino nation by establishing the Katipunan. It was not a smooth sail. The organization had to start underground and slowly and secretly established its bases on all the islands, which was not an easy task, especially in the Muslim south. However, all of us were united under one common goal, which is to overthrow the Spanish tyranny, and most importantly united under the wise guidance of the dear leader itself.

1 January 1836, the first day of a new year which marks the beginning of Filipino self-determination and independence. The Spanish has been destroyed, and a constitutional monarchy government has been established with the dear leader as the sovereign. Yet, the struggle of the nation is far from over. The Filipino nation not only has to survive from other potential thieves who are hungry of our riches, but also has to grow stronger in order to spread the glory of the Filipino nation. Thus, the dear leader has started its policy to achieve these crucial goals.

The Dear Leader decided to increase the tax and impose tariff since the Filipino nation is in dire need of reserves. He recognized that the people may suffer from this, and consequently he decided to return substantial amount to the people through the maximization of educational and bureaucratic budget. He also borrowed some money from abroad. Although it seems harsh, we believe that this is for the best of the newborn Filipino nation.

The reason is clear-cut: to build a powerful army and navy, which is crucial not only to defend ourselves, but also to assert our position in the international stage. However, the dear leader had an idea that was thought to be crazy: Spain managed to be great by establishing a colony, then the Filipino nation also needs a colony, and he proposed to colonize part of Japan, which at that time was under the rule of the shogun. At the end, the dear leader managed to outline his plain in detail, and the parliament decided to give a green light.

Thus, the war with Japan started. The dear leader commanded the troops himself and launched the invasion swiftly. He started by occupying Okinawa, Kyushu, and Shikoku.

The Japanese troops under the shogun soon mobilized and moved toward Hiroshima and Shikoku. However, they fell right into the dear leader's plan. He immediately started a blockade of the whole Japanese islands and managed to land 6,000 troops in the capital of the shogunate, Edo. The Shogun's palace was devastated, which clearly ruined the Japanese moral.

The Shogun quickly offered peace, but the answer is simply HELL NO.

Some of our troops engaged 12,000 Japanese, and after several fights in different regions, they were decimated.

The dear leader continued his next plan: by enforcing a blockade in two bottleneck regions. Combined with the severe naval blockade, the Japanese troops were trapped.

Thus, the remaining Filipino army quickly occupied the rest of the country. At the end, the shogun surrendered and agreed to cede four regions: Fukuoka, Yamaguchi, Nagoya, and Aomori. The Japanese nation has been severely weakened, and indeed in the next five years it is conceivable that the dear leader will launch another offensive to annex the rest of the country.

The Filipino nation rejoiced of this victory. Not only this shows the greatness of the nation and boosts our pride, but also it brings riches of Japan to be shared with the Filipinos. The profit shall be utilized to enrich the country, strengthen the army, and pacify our new colony.

...Welp, subbed. You're already doing better than I am in my Philippines AAR, but I decided to go to Panama instead of Japan. Interesting (and probably superior) choice.

Since I have family in the Philippines I think this should be interesting. What a flying start - definite sub.

Being 50% Filipino, I have to say; Go Go Go Philippines!

Cheers!

Filipino colonies in Japan? Well there's a twist ;) Subbed.
