With the change to decadence in the new patch, are Muslim Merchant Republics a bit more practical? Are we in for terrifying trade empires filling entire oceans? (hopefully under my rule...) I suppose succession is still an issue though.
 
From most reports, it looks like the Decadent trait mainly shows up in the courts of your vassals (not in your court).

Since most Republics tend to have all the male family members in their court, it seems like less of an issue. And if it does rear its ugly head, you can easily straighten up the offender or if necessary, imprison him.
