The Republic of Germany would like to announce, in association with the state government of Berlin, a bid for the city of Berlin to be the host city for the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Signed,
Helmut Kohl, Chancellor of Germany and Floris Helsington, Head of the German Olympic Committee

((Note: actual historical bid!))

Name: Thomas Wassberg
Birth: 27 March, Lennartsfors, Värmland, Sweden
Nationality: Swedish
Background: Former Athlete
Bio: He won the World Cup in 1977. In 1980 he received Bragdmedaljen, an award given to the best Swedish sportsman/sportswoman each year. He did however for many years refuse to accept the award in protest to an earlier decision by the award committee, but finally in 2013 he accepted the medal.

Wassberg won four gold Medals at the Winter Olympics: in 15 km (1980), 50 km (1984), and the 4 x 10 km relay (1984, 1988). At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, he earned three golds (50 km: 1982, 30 km: 1987, and 4 x 10 km: 1987), three silvers (15 km: 1985, 1987; 50 km (1987), and one bronze (4 x 10 km: 1985). Additionally, Wassberg won the 50 km at the Holmenkollen ski festival three times (1980, 1982 and 1987) and the 15 km twice (1979, 1985).

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, Wassberg edged out Finland's Juha Mieto by 0.01 seconds in the 15 km, the closest cross-country skiing race in Olympic history. This incident led the FIS to change their timing to the nearest one-tenth of a second. At the 1984 Winter Olympics, Wassberg beat out fellow Swede Gunde Svan by 4.9 seconds in the 50 km, the closest margin of victory ever in that event

Note: I only have a few sets of Orders so I will be extending the Deadline to 9:00 P.M. on April 2 EST.

Swedish Olympic Committee

The Swedish Olympic Committee, after several months of consideration, formally lodges a request that Stockholm, having previously hosted the historic 1912 Olympics, as well as the 1956 Equestrian Games, would be a superb choice for the upcoming 2000 Summer Olympics.

We sincerely hope that the International Committee will review our bid carefully and, with luck, decide in our favour.

I hate to ask this, but for fairness' sake. Would you rather get the Athlete Bonus or Political Figure bonus?
I'll have your base stats up, minus whatever Bonus you get when you choose.

Little Note

If you do not get your orders in on time, don't worry about it too much. Your orders will simply be put in a generic 1/4 for each category distribution.

CHARACTER

1184238128_0.jpg

Name: Juan Antonio Samaranch
Birth: 17th July, 1920
Nationality: Spanish
Background: Idealist
Bio: After a discrete career as an athlete, Samaranch used his political cunning to get elected as Spanish Ambassador in the Soviet Union, a post he used to increase his political capital amongst the eastern nations. Elected as president of the IOC in 1980, Samaranch worked relentlessly to get Barcelona as an Olympic city, and now no one knows if he will simply remain as a silent figure, or if another Spanish city will try to get an Olympic bid.

ATHLETE

Bio: Winner of 5 Tour of France in a row, Miguel Indurain is probably one of the best cycling racers in history, if not the best. Now he will try his luck in the Olympics, where the gold medal seems almost sure.

The Italian Hope

When Italy joins the 1996 Summer Olympics, it is with a strong trust that they will bring home gold medals in the disciplines of Fencing. And this trust is without reason, since Fencing is the Italian specialty, with the Italians bringing home more medals than any other nation, and France is the only nation that truly can challenge the italian dominance, with Hungary as a distant third.

Le gouvernement du anounces Monaco

(Since no one is doing France yet I am assuming I can co host with them with out having to negotiate with that fourm member)

The Principality of Monaco announces it will hold a bid in Co-Operation with the government of France and Nice that it will hold a bid to Host the 2000 summer Olympics. (If we do win the bid most of the things will be situated in Nice as, space is tight in Monaco!)

Update Up Tomorrow, things will be going more quickly as time goes on.

Just to clear something up, I saw a few Question marks in regards to athlete Ethnicity. Same as nationality generally, depending on your country's diversity. It would then for example allow for say a British athlete to be specifically Scottish.
