Popes frequently appointed relatives to the college of cardinals. These churchmen often became notable in their own right, with many even achieving the papal office themselves. Although the practice reached its height in the renaissance era, it was common throughout the medieval period.

There should be an additional positive modifier to a candidate's election to the college of cardinals if they are related to the Pope.
