22. Pushing forward

3PmzKda.jpg

I've decided to DOW Greece to help stuck Italian AI. Wargoal used for this is concede defeat as I don't want any of Greek land.

nySvkOF.jpg

Campaign in Malaya is looking good. It actually seems they've got only one HQ and no IC at all (randomly clicked through some Malayan provinces and none of them had any IC).

VbL84QQ.jpg

Meanwhile Athens are under pressure of German marines.

3IAPtEk.jpg

Without any combat divisions Malaya was an easy target and their rare mines now belongs to Germany, as a jackpot 18k of rares have been salvaged. Also I don't know what Transjordani cavalry and HQ are doing there (I've spotted another ones in Burma and Borneo).

Ukz3HUl.jpg

Panzers to the rescue!

SXlXJx1.jpg

Battle for Athens was one of the bloodier battles when comparing with e.g. campaign in Portugal where battles were won with over 300 Portuguese dead and 2 Germans dead.

3LOEEdH.jpg

Marines which were deployed in Malaya were redeployed to Gudalcanal, one of Germany secretly constructed bases. Also another corps of marines are on their way towards Gudalacanal base.

XP3qzgW.jpg

Panzers quickly seized another Greek VP, Salonika and peace was made another day. With concede defeat war goal I've expected a NAP to be signed (it is in wargoal description) but no NAP with Greece. Possibly bug?

7NE2yd1.jpg

Another research completed for Wunderwaffe efforts.

oO6vwYQ.jpg

Looks like Italy revived and they are actually doing something!

cbI4CRs.jpg

When second marine corps arrived to Gudalcanal, things got moving.

3IJhvMc.jpg

New Zealand is next target. I've noticed that they are in war against Italy (possibly due to Greece).

UWljqkd.jpg

Resistance is heavier then expected.

SMBaJ81.jpg

Didn't they got lost?

It's Guadalcanal, not Gudalcanal! Grammar Nazi strikes!

Another great update. Any clear signals from Washington? Or are you just taking out every nation in your path with Yanks looking how shiny your Panzers are?

It's Guadalcanal, not Gudalcanal! Grammar Nazi strikes!

You have sincere apologies for that :(

Yanks are still sleeping although their neutrality is quite low but it seems I did nothing that provoked them. Their highest threat received is from Peru. If I would attack them now they'd be probably finished before nuke is ready.

23. Troubles at New Zealand

GYDkke5.jpg

Attack on Christchurch has been reconsidered as defenses were greater than my estimates and easier target has been chosen.

9RVl200.jpg

And easier target quickly falls.

jlkpJWG.jpg

Another target is Auckland as defenders of North Island are already fighting in Wellington.

XSwzTpb.jpg

Meanwhile in Greece Italy is finally making progress.

FvDnHsa.jpg

Germany is one stop closer to the nuke. 2 more civil techs and nuke techs unlock (next civil nuclear tech will be researched in December).

bVEX9rr.jpg

Special forces training will prove itself useful in future special forces action.

mDC6RYo.jpg

Wellington finally falls. These causalities ratio is horrid.

SUeju6G.jpg

Auckland falls few days later.

x8WaVR8.jpg

OTXj7Jm.jpg

However counterattacks are launched immediately. One medium bomber squadron is rebased to Wellington to provide air support.

6DL2wQm.jpg

Counterattacks are repelled and German marines can take a break and recover some organization.

6A5OmJ9.jpg

However Wellington is once more attacked. I've expected an easy prey and got this. New Zealand was mobilized before strike due to war with Italy and therefore well prepared. At least I can picture what will take place in Australia if I decide to attack them.

I4Pk8Gk.jpg

Situation in China is stalemate and remembers bloody grinder. I've decided that intervention there and opening second front in the south would be vital for Japan. At the moment I am thinking which wargoal will I use to not to break Japan gains, I will probably attack with take Guangdong wargoal. I've been expanding ports, airfield and infrastructure there for a while in all 3 Germany controlled provinces in the south which will serve as starting point in opening second front.

P.S: I already hate myself for deciding to intervene in China.

There's just too many of them :( and terrain isn't exactly one of the best. I've already once intervened as Germany in Sino-Japanese war in HPP and it was pain, I've spent there more then a year and half and all I've managed to do was to conquer Guanxi and and beat PRC to 90% warscore.

Holy Cow, I leave just one weekend and you go and conquer the World!! Nice done! though I foresee you'll be Master of the Earth before nukes are ready :(

though I foresee you'll be Master of the Earth before nukes are ready :(

I don't thinks this will happen. Campaign in China will take a lot of resources and time and I won't probably attempt any operations in America till China is beaten. I'd the techs required for the bomb will be ready latest at February 1944.

24. The intervention

jQMrMc3.jpg

May the 1st June 1942 be always remembered as day when Germany decided to intervene in Sino-Japanese war.

3YpEoOd.jpg

Bombing initiative have immediately started. 5 wings of medium bombers are dedicated to supply Chinese with steady flow of bombs. As you see on this picture research of escort fighters paid off.

chiNcPy.jpg

First battles have been fought and German troops are advancing towards China. At this moment Heer forces there consists of 30 standard infantry divisions (2x INF, 1xSUP(H)) and 5 cavalry divisions (2x CAV, 1xSUP(T)).

UqryTeQ.jpg

Meanwhile defendres of New Zealand are giving up.

1Qci5Z3.jpg

Auckland is left defended by lone marine division, rest of marines corps are on their way towards Christchurch which has been bombed for some time to soften defenses.

bfYHeR2.jpg

Total of 30 brigades have been trapped. 21 are militia ones 9 are regular infantry.

pgblH5V.jpg

Defenders of Christchurch are out of organization due to bombing and are going to give up. New Zealand will fall soon.

eghntZZ.jpg

Another Chinese are trapped, 2 cavalry brigades and 12 militia ones. However I am afraid that these are last pockets formed in China as infra and lack of supplies together with horrific terrain will slow possible future exploitations and situation in China will turn into meatgrinder.

s3Tl84g.jpg

New Zealand falls and I've learned a lesson - I need to bring bigger guns to Australia.

cUZDGTl.jpg

kCgIFki.jpg

Battles for pockets - Germans troops are supported by Kriegsmarine and Chinese are not posing a threat. Damn, I'd love to use Kriegsmarine guns in those Chinese mountains.

0WD7fUO.jpg

That's a lot of movement. I don't like it on the other hand pressure on Japanese is reduced and hopefully they will make significant gains.

Jf58Uq3.jpg

Chinese aircraft is really no match for Luftwaffe.

MXsQZbs.jpg

Pockets have been shattered and German troops are now advancing into Chinese heartland.

ZsE6wCj.jpg

Another piece to Wunderwaffe effort. Construction of 10 flying bombs immediately started.

eoSog5Y.jpg

Finally Italy finished of Greece, I am curious how they will fare against Kuwait and Iraq.

MkEluP5.jpg

Haikou, province with nice level 6 airfield, is seized and another medium bombers arrive there to increase strength of the bombing effort.

VwCbcas.jpg

Guangzhou is encircled with some Chinese defenders within it.

I've managed to create a solid beachhead in China but their reinforcements from the north have arrived and I will have tough times there.
Immediately after V1 are completed I will use them to destroy as much of Chinas industry as possible, meanwhile the bombing effort will continue and German medium bombers will bomb the living sh*t out of Chinese and hopefully after some time their reinforcement budget will be bigger than their available IC.

Working on that, supply flow is so far good due to expanding ports prior to intervention.

how many boots do you have in China?

how many boots do you have in China?

280k soldiers there in 35 divisions that makes 560k boots.

Merry Christmas to everyone and happy New Year!

And if they're managing to get all those boots to the front line the supply situation in China can't be that bad, right? ;)

So far it's good, mainly due to proximity to 3 high level ports. I am wondering how supply situation will look like in Chinese heartland.

thanks SKOTy and merry Christmas to you and all the people in the forum too!

And now seriously, how many of you give your soldiers vacation in HoI from 24th to 2nd? :p

there are no holidays on the Eastern Front ;) that's actually the time I can play the most

Of course, since the Orthodox church has Christmas (and the New Year) a little bit later, so Germans and Soviets are incompatible in this :p
