I wonder why French are called Cosmopolitaine in the game. The notion refer to multicultural place/community. cosmopolitan

France had more cultural diversity at the time but I'm not sure it was cosmopolitan.

What do you think?
 
I think it means "Cosmopolitan French", i.e., Parisian French, as opposed to those lesser Frenchman in the outlying areas.
