Well I tried an Italian AAR but made the mistake thinking I could change the war only to find Italy is way to weak and has so little time to build up. So I decided to do a Qing Empire AAR with mod 1914. Away from Europe, and a lot of options I have.
Everyone always talked about how weak the Qing Dynasty was. To an extent it was true, losing countless wars against the West, Japan, and having so many internal revolts, combined with a weak and outdated army, the country, while large, was very, very weak. Still Empress Dowager Longyu sought to preserve the dynasty no matter what. After a brief uprising that was crushed, independence was granted to Mongolia. The military leader Yuan Shikai gain more influence securing a position in the government. He reorganized the military, gathering divisions in groups to make them stronger. 1914 infantry was researched, while two new divisions were produced. On October 11, 1911, the Chinese Republic was declared, making a large chunk of China seceded as well as the Eastern countries like Tibet gain independence. It was a fight for survival. Shanghai and other major cities were lost. But because of the grouping of men, armies from the South tied down the rebels while Skikai armies from the north launched an offensive that saw the fall of Nanjing. With the Republic's capital gone, the republic swiftly fell and was annexed.
Celebration broke out, in dark times, the Qing Empire survived the greatest revolt. The resistance around the country was crushed. Yet despite the victory it exposed even more issue's with the army. Out East, every offensive against the Republic failed and regaining strength was horribly slow.
Now Head of Government, Yuan Skikai proposed three main goals to the empress:
1.)Build, modernize and improve organization/morale of the Army
2.) Build up Chinese industry
3.) Regain the Eastern territories or if strong enough, a showdown with Japan.
The first two goals will be carried out immediately, yet with rumors of a future war in Europe, perhaps the Qing Empire can benefit from it. Those colonies do hold rich resources.
