BASICS ABOUT THE GAME

Does it matter, that EU IV is out? No. We still have our FtG game and it is time for a real FtG-MP. Everyone is welcome to join the game as long as they are nice, reliable (for more detailed information about these 2 points, please read the information below under HOW TO JOIN THE GAME) and as long as they know how to follow the rules.

GM: Adrianer
HOST: Adrianer
Weekday: Sunday
Game time: 19:00-23:00 CET
Start date: August, 25th 2013
Game version: latest FtG 1.3 beta

CURRENT GAME ROSTER:
England -
Russia -
France -
Austria -
Spain -
Ottoman Empire -
(Sweden -)
(Brandenburg -)
(Portugal -)
(Poland -)
(Venice -)

SCENARIO/MOD:
To be chosen (most likely 1419 or some 1453 scenario (if there is one for FtG 1.3))

HOW TO JOIN THE GAME:

Anyone deciding to join the game, he must be a nice and reliable person. For those that have doubts or a certain level of difficulty understanding what that means, please, read the following, otherwise, skip it:

“Nice” means you are generally well mannered. This has nothing to do with a devious and treacherous playing style. Here is a short list at a deeper level:
1) No insults toward another player, unless done in a way that is clearly a joke
2) No accusing a player of cheating unless you have strong evidence
3) No rudeness toward fellow players
4) You may make any comment you wish on an opponent’s activity in the game as long as that activity is allowed. But you must of course make it without breaking item 1-3 above. Thus you may call him a backstabber, a warmonger, etc. Any such statement in it self cannot be interpreted as an implication that your opponent is doing something morally wrong because for game actions we have no moral dimension. They only have a legal dimension, either they are allowed or they are not allowed.
5) There is no difference between “kings” and “players” in this game. We have no RP although you may do that in your AAR. But any statement that refers to a king of a nation is equal to one directed at the one playing that nation.
6) If according to the GMs anyone breaks the “nice” rule and the victim asks for an apology they must give one.
7) This list is not complete. If there is a an issue that comes up that has not been addressed in these rules, it will be resolved by the GMs.

“Reliable” means that once you sign on you will dedicate yourself to the game. You are not expected to quit the game merely because you become bored for a reason such as the game going badly for you or that you lose your interest for EU in a more general sense. If you know you have a weak character and often allow yourself to avoid doing your duty towards your fellow gamers (or indeed humans in general), then this is not your game.

P.S: Please note that although it is not necessary to have ICQ to join this game, it is highly recommended that you install it and create an account for yourself so that you can speak with other players in order to perform diplomacy more easily. Alternatively Skype may be used - but because of offline support, ICQ is preferred.

NOTE REGARDING INTERNET CONNECTIONS:
All players have to forward the
port range 2300-2400 (both TCP and UDP) on their routers to their PC's, so they can play without the need of Hamachi, Gameranger or other VPNs. If you do not know how, Google it or try finding your router here.
Potential (backup-)hosts have to additionally forward the 47624 TCP port.

RULES:

BASIC RULES:

1. Be nice and reliable - as defined in the post above.

DETAILED RULES:

1. If you are vassalised by another human:

a) you must stay as a vassal at least 20 years (unless the vassalizer allows a break from the vassalization earlier)
b) you cannot enter any other alliance than that of your master
c) you must accept a proposal of TA/MA from your master
d) you cannot start a war or join a war without consent from your master
e) you cannot give MA to any power without your overlord's consent
f) apart from that you may do anything you want

2. You are not allowed to break truces except when the truce is a result of a province swap deal in game. You are not allowed to dow AI alliance members or vassals of someone you have a truce with.

3. If you give an opponent MA in a peace treaty you are not allowed to revoke it until 20 years have passed

4. Using certain exploits is forbidden. See below for more details (please note that some of these exploits might no longer exist but just to be sure they will be included).

* Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, or attacking with small fleets to hinder an enemy shore landing or loading of troops (you are only allowed to attack an enemy fleet to prevent either of these cases if your fleet is made of more than 1/5 of the enemy fleet).
* Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
* Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an
army in a province with a manufactory.
* Using lag to your advantage. This includes (but is not limited to):
Sending lag colonists, building lag fortresses, sending lag missionaries,
using lag diplomats. (The exception is using lag diplomats to send cash).
* Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
- Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
- Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic
nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
* Exploiting Simultanity:
- You are not allowed to break the deal regarding the sale of a province if you have already received cash and/or another province.
- You are not allowed to go back regarding a peace agreement if you already agreed to it in the public chat (private conversations do not count).
* Converting from Catholicism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or
Protestantism and then switching back to Catholicism before the Edict
of Tolerance.
* Trading maps with the AI.
* Sending loans to the AI.
* Signing a peace deal with the AI, that bankrupts it in the same day.
* Ceding TPs to reduce Bad Boy.
* Using MA to deprive another country of supplies without being at war with them
* Using MA to place 1 ship fleets in another country's ports in order to maintain them there for spying without the other person having any way of dislodging them (you might place or keep 1 ship fleets in another player's port IF you have the player's consent)

5. When unpredicted situations occur during the game the GM may, after consulting with the players, issue additional ad hoc rules to deal with the situation. A good example is if a human nation is AIed, the GM may then state whether this nation is on-limits or off-limits.

SPECIAL RULES:

1. If you write an AAR you will be allowed to choose from 2 possible rewards: either -0.5 inflation or -2 badboy.
2. If you do appear on time for the MP you will be allowed to choose from 2 possible rewards for the next session: either -0.5 inflation or -2 badboy.
3. If you do not appear on time for the MP you will be punished with +0.5 inflation and +1 badboy.

PENALTIES:

When someone breaks the basic rule or knowingly breaks another rule, then a disciplinary penalty may be issued. The most severe is disqualification if the player continually breaks the "nice and reliable" rule. In other cases no penalty will be handed out, we will merely, by the use of edits, decided upon by the GMs, try to restore equity making sure no innocent (including the AI) is harmed - the latter means that in practice in normal cases the one breaking the rule will end up losing from the error.

Everyone who wants to play shall post 3 countries he or she wants to play most (sorted by priority).
Note: first we need to have players for England, Russia, France, Austria, Spain and Ottoman Empire. So only, if we will be more than six, we will be able to place players on the other countries.

Yeah, this one is the one I had in mind. But quickly converting it until Sunday will probably be not possible...

Nope, it can be done quicker. Like today let's say. Oh, wait...

Although someone has to check cultures right - a lot changed, there are a lot of new cultures (and a few religions) added. A lot of cultures are written differently now (khazak - kazakh, afghani - pashtun, scandinavian - nordic, anglosaxon - english, etc.), so a quick check for majors would be needed. And some testing probably.

Mighty Notepad++ is able to achieve everything.

Well, that was a lot of search -> change stuff. Also removing old stuff from EU2, changing goods and terrain from number to full names (like goods = 1 to goods = cloth). Tedious job really. And cultures might not be good yet - check it before playing.

Also, since we have casusbelli provinces in FtG we can add capitals of all player countries, so there'll be no problem with CBs.

EDIT:

I've checked FtG files and it seems that countryname comand is working. So actually, to spice it up a bit, would it make fun to make a small flavour events for MP?

Mostly I'm thinking about events to change flags and names. Like, Brandenburg/Prussia could finally become Germany and Venice Italy. But there's more - Scandinavia for Sweden, or just a cosmetic changes - Russian Empire, Poland-Lithuania (that one's implemented IIRC), Austria-Hungary, anything else? Revolutionary France maybe?

Only flavour, but maybe it could add something new to the game? It would work without changing TAGs = no mess with leaders etc. Would be cute I assume.

And maybe some additional stuff if it's needed. I was always wondering why you guys are messing with editing save and adding cores for colonies for example. Abberation has nicely done events giving claims once you colonize area. Maybe it'd save some time?

I'm in modding mood today. Damn I'm happy that countryname works! Thought it was broken.

EDIT2:

Something along those lines:

Requirement: 16 out of 30 German provinces (excluding Austria but including East Prussia and Pomerania), so I believe it's average BRA size in MP game.

Sounds like fun, I'm up for whatever

With Therion, RappaR, Monkii-sama and me we are just four now. We still need (at least) two other players before we can start - so if you are interested, don't hesitate to post it here ;)

Why can't you just be 4? It's a number which brought some luck, at least when it comes e.g. to rock bands...
Name 4 countries in Europe that could coexist and all have enough room to expand... We could try with England, Spain, Muscovy and Ottomans... But I still think that this would be a boring game...

Yay! We finally do have six players! I hope everyone will show up today at 7pm Central European Time.

Please send me your ICQ/XMPP/Skype names via pm so I can have an easy way of sending you the host IP and TeamSpeak3 server details.
