I just bought the game on steam (an hour ago, I think?), and it simply wouldn't launch, so I thought "why not look through the forums?".
There is a list of problems and possible solutions, and one (that worked for me) wasn't present.
NVidia released another update a couple days ago. I had my drivers updated last week, so I didn't even think it could be an issue.
However, even this slight difference in versions was enough to mishandle the game.
(I already had Steam's root on my AV's safe list, so I can't say if it helped in my case or not)
And yes, I know updating drivers should be the first thing to come to mind... But oh well
