Now our game has come to an end, we decided to make it into an AAR.

Germany - Urko
USA - Lord Jarski
USSR - Mr_B0narpte

We used AoD 1.08 with the Improved 1936 mod as it is essentially a big improvement upon the 1936 scenario, with a UK-puppet India, Sudan and a semi-independent Egypt. I highly recommend the scenario as it has made the AIs so much better, added and edited a variety of events that add to the game and it is just awesome!

Settings and rules
*Full IC was on, mainly for the benefit of Germany as the player was outnumbered from the start
*The USA could not voluntarily join the war unless Germany landed in the Americas or the British isles, or until the Pearl Harbour event
*No one else could go to war until the Danzig or War event
*No German-Soviet war until 1st April 1941 at the earliest

With over 150 screenshots we have a lot to sort through and even more to describe! Updates to come.

N... Green Defenders take over power in Germany. Reforms are enacted so that people recycle more.

1936

We defended ecology. German government always believed ecology is the first priority, so stopped building polluting industries. Instead, just some factories of windmills in Berlin/Köln and ecological trains were built all across the land.

Hollenthal-Viaduct.jpg

Also, we understood a ship pollutes way less than a car, so we considered a big program of transporting people through ships instead of using cars was necessary.

Franco told us Republican government was against recognizing the existance of climate change. We decided to provide him with campaign funds. Nobody told us the other side didn't really want to enact regulations against it either.

1938

Na... Green Party got into power in Austria. We decided together we could champion green agenda better, and joined in "Ecoanchlüss". Also, Sudeten people thought the same. Together, we built even more ecological trains.

The Czechs decided to follow our example. Some people complained we were sorta rude over them, but hey, they had been building a few polluting industries, so it's not like we can allow their ultracapitalism to do whatever they want, no?

30th August 1939.

A visit to Danzig is scheduled. We heard they have a problem there, as Polish co-government is blockading the installation of recycling systems in the city. We may need to discuss it.

"GERMANS!! GERMANS SIGHTED!!!" A young officer stormed shouting in to Admiral Thomas C. Hart's office in the middle of the night located in Portland, ME.

"Calm down soldier, now, what is this business with the germans?" Admiral Hart asked.

"A report from heavy cruiser USS Tuscaloosa from the 17th USN Fleet, which is patrolling near Newfoundland. The seas are filled with german transport ships, theres even state of the art battleships and battlecruisers accompanying them, their sonar equipment has detected submarine presence aswell!" The officer said.

"How many transport ships?" Admiral Hart asked.

"At least a hundred sir! Maybe even more, looks like an all out invasion force, 17th USN Fleet is requesting permission to open fire before they reach the Canadian shores." The officer replied.

"Tell them not to open fire, untill the German troops have broken through the Canadian coastal garrisons."

"But sir! Itll be too late then!"

"It is not up to me son, if I was in charge, I would have taken action when the krauts landed on Bermuda already. The neutrality pact USA has signed with Germany and Soviet Union, specifically denies us from entering the ongoing war, unless the very soil of Americas is touched by Axis forces. The brilliant pact, administrated by the wretched John Nance Garner and Adolf Hitler himself."

"This is madness! They will crush the Canadians and just roll over our borders!"

"That is true, I had long foreseen that scenario, I even told the government and representants from the Soviet Union about my concerns, but they laughed at my face. I was suprised the navy got the funds for the new radar and anti-submarine warfare equipment."

"But..what do we do?...We will be crushed..."

"Call out an evacuation, this port is now in danger, order a full mobilization of the navy, send a word to the battleships in Boston to start sailing towards Canada, and do try to reach the Carrier Fleet patrolling near Bermuda, they are soon needed home. Also notify the land forces, they will need to delay the german advance near the Canadian border."

"Full mobilization of the navy? But sir, isnt Chief of Navy Standley only one who can issue that order?"

"Send the messages, and explain the situation, we have two choices, to fight, or to surrender, lets see which option the Fleet takes. Besides, Standley is having a dinner with Garner, as long as those two can be kept out of this, the better."

"Yes sir!" Officer saluted.

"Dismissed, and make haste!" Admiral Hart said, while strapping his sidearm to his belt and beginning to gather his papers to a briefcase.

Moments later, Hart was watching through the window to the dark night.

"Hopefully the transport fleet I sent sailing towards Philippines brings better news when it returns. Alot is depending on those brave sailors, and hopefully, my plan will work. A storm is coming, but we shall endure and after it is over, it shall be Germany who will feel our wrath..." Admiral Hart said silently, before leaving his office, to a truck heading towards California.

The USSR, 1936-early 1940

1936
The Soviet leadership knew the German talk of being the most 'ecologically friendly' nation was pure nonsense, and was secretly preparing for war. The infrastructure builds it was making both pointed towards France and Poland, and ultimately to the USSR. Following on from the previous 5 year plans, mass-industrialisation was the ultimate aim for the next few years.

220px-Magnitogorsk_steel_production_facility_1930s.jpg

1937
Stalin, with his amazing prophesying powers, fore-saw the Japanese declaration of war on China. But he did not foresee then Japanese not receiving any belligerence from what was a clearly belligerent act. As Roosevelt said at the time, "[It's not] as if DoWing China makes them [the Japanese] more friendly to rest of the world".

Germany made the flattering claim that "at this pace [of Soviet industrialisation], soviet economy may add up for german + yankee". Clearly the USSR's mass-industrialisation was of great worry to Germany.

Poster105.jpg

The Soviets were sad to see Spain fall to the god-believing fascists, after all the support it had given to the all great communists in the region.

There was also a fierce debate between the Soviets and the Americans. The Americans clearly didn't and don't know the definition of a good football game. (Warning there is some strong language, and won't make sense if you don't know what FIFA and PES are).

Stalin:"PES is silly"
Roosevelt: "wont let that insult just float around xd"
Stalin: "Man Utd were called the Red Bricks or something stupid... Fifa has always had the proper names for teams and players... PES had to catch up"
Roosevelt: "yeaah cause FIFA assholes own all the licenses!"
Stalin: "cause FIFA is awesome"
Roosevelt: "FIFA is crap, PES with edited real teams and players supercedes it in every way!"
German leader: "too obvious"
Stalin: "FIFA is awesome, with real times, real players, realistic play"
Roosevelt: "what real times? you can have 45 + 45 min match?"
Stalin: "real teams*"
Roosevelt: "oh"
Stalin: "who wants 90 minute matches"
Roosevelt: "well so does PES when you install a dedicated mod for it"
Stalin: "crazy PES sychophants"
Roosevelt: "I would xd... theres not that in PES... would be hilarious to play one sometime"
Stalin: "FIFA doesn't need mods to be awesome... it just is"
Roosevelt: "FIFA assholes"
Stalin: "FIFA assholes are genuises"
Roosevelt: "im redeploying my fleet to the pacific!"
Stalin: "PES players are just jealous they don't have FIFA"
Roosevelt: "We are not!"
German leader: "but but!... nazi threat!... :'("
Roosevelt: "bah... who gives a banana"
Stalin: "The German leader told me he hates PES"
Roosevelt: "!"
German leader: "????... lies"
Roosevelt: "back to Atlantic boys!"

1938
After a debate on reforming the international law regarding when the USA can join the war or not failed, the Soviet and American leadership covertly discussed Germany's potential war plans. This confidential conversation can now be revealed:
Roosevelt started the discussion, stating "I fear the following plan [by Germany]: massive drop of units to Canada, deployment of airbases to Newfoundland and naval base to Labrador... [then the] use of naval bombers to wreck my fleets intercepting his fleet there".
Stalin dismissed such a strategy, retorting "It would take weeks for them [the naval bombers] to re-org... he'd have to beat you by 1941".
With almost as great a foresight as that of a communist, Roosevelt replied "I'd pull it off right after [the fall of] France".
Stalin, again dismissive, "Still.. [he would have] less than 2 years [to defeat the USA]".
The conversation ended inclusively there.

1939 - early 1940
In April 1939 the Soviet people cheered when they found out that their Soviet Union had more effective IC then that of Germany and Hungary combined.

Shovel_Pinkies_Mother.jpg

In the same month Germany's rhetoric displayed an obvious sign of things to come, sadly Stalin was in a highly capitalist mood and lost his great foresight. The event was a public discussion between Stalin and the leader of Germany.
After a long talk, Stalin alleged "You [Germany] don't have a navy"
The German leader mysteriously replied "lol... I DO!... MYHAHAHAHA [sic]".

Soviet intelligence, as reliable as it was, did not take into account the amount of transport ships any foreign nation had when making its' reports. Which is partly why Stalin made such an allegation against Germany, the NKVD report stated the Kriegsmarine only had 15 ships, and he did not know of this grave failure which existed not only with the Soviet intelligence service, but in intelligence services worldwide.

Stalin was also buoyant after seeing a clear weakness in the Axis: Italy. It had taken a month for Italy, with around 100IC and seemingly limitless manpower, to defeat Albania, which had 4IC and just one militia division!

In the months after Germany went to war with the Western imperialists, Soviet power grew exponentially as it expanded to free the people of Eastern Europe and beyond. The peoples of Eastern Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Afghanistan, Persia, Finland and Turkey were freed from their capitalist and fascist oppressors as they all bowed down to Stalin's benevolent leadership. Coincidentally, the USSR's base industrial capacity grew to such an extent that it exceeded the base IC of the USA. Of course, the Soviet leadership did not at all notice or celebrate this at the time, of course not.

1939, September 1st

Excellent!!! Even better than Excellent!!!

Our discussions with the Polish government didn't last long. Soon, after they rejected any concession on the new, separated, rubbish bins, a wave of green protestors took the city. Definately, the long work to raise eviromental awareness in Germany during the 3 previous years had worked.

The people's will was to be implemented, no matter how much the Polish anti-ecological movement opposed it.

1350579283-hard-hat-climate-protest-in-whitehall-says-green-is-working_1530858.jpg

Simoultaneously, seems some Italians wanted to change the rule in Egypt. Italy was obviously green (all you had to do to check this truth is looking at the map), so they counted with all, our whole-hearted back up.

Soon enough, we issued a strong protest to Danish government. Seemingly, they more or less begrudinglly surrendered their obsolete positions.

Meanwhile, reactionary democracies were on the move. All these movements were to be challenged from now on. On the one side, the United Kingdom, motherland of SMOG

images

Also, France, the snail genocides and enemies of ducks!

And finally, the overpopulating Indians!!! (Apart of other minor satellites of the formers).

Overshoot_2.jpg

They all did join against our eco-coalition. Soon enough, after a landing from vessels in the Mediterranean, France surrendered, and a new government which promised not to increase base industrial capacity got into power there.

images

Also, dutch and belgian governments were bullied into incorporation to the green side.

1940

Plans were carried on regarding the United Kingdom, but any atacck on them would have triggered an American response.

Puajj.... Amerika!!!

But that wasn't the end to our problems. Italians ataccked Yugoslavians without our consent, which led to a yugoslavian atacck on undefended Hungary. Quite a problem, with the army in France. We needed to go trhought Switzerland to reach it fast enough, but they rejected passage. We applied the "never ask for something you can outright get by force". Anyway, we discovered plans in Bern to join our enemies in a short time, so nothing to feel remorse about. We reached Yugoslavia and that was it.

Also, Nat Spain had betrayed our trust in their eco reforms and did not even allow us passage to reach Gibraltar, so we needed to change the government there.

But the main foe that prevented the British fall and with it the end to this polluting war was still standing...

Amerika

coal-plant-pollution-epa.jpg

The country in the world where resources were most wasted. The biggest coal producer in the world (and they did not just produce it like us, but burnt it). And now... now the biggest threat to our ecology in Europe campaign. How did they dare to threaten us in our defense of a cleaner future for our children? Even our stimates showed by 1945 they would be polluting half the pollution in the world.

They were the supreme evil, definately.

Vessels were gathered in Sevilla. In this glorious land, the second arrival to Amerika would be staged like the first one. More than a hundred ships were loaded of Germans and Hungarians, the navy was prepared to escort... And so the March began. First, Bermuda was reached, where soon enough loads of American polluting ships arrived to bring their evil propaganda, but we had already left.

Then, we advanced into the Caribbean, luckily being unspotted. Both a covered atacck by kamikazely blockading the entry into Gulf of Mexico on biloxi and a landing in Belize were considereded. Finally, USA government decided to obey international law and we could just sail to Canada without fear of being ataccked before landing in Continental Amerika...

Germany seems to be doing quite well. Now the question is: Who is telling the truth about the German intentions, them or their enemies? :D

USSR: early to mid-1940

The Soviet leadership was astounded by the rapid increase in German strength in just 6 months, but felt secure as it's rapid militarisation was going along successfully. The annexation of Sweden was inevitable and soon occurred.

The German invasion of the USA, launched 2nd/3rd April, caught the world by surprise, and in particular Stalin. He eventually surmised that this conflict could only leave the USSR as the beneficiary, presuming that the USA and Germany would fight to the death for the North American continent. Never-the-less the Wehrmacht's advance was staggering.

The USSR, along with recommendations from the American leadership, decided to go to war with Romania to remove the threat before it joined in an alliance with Germany. To the bemusement of Stalin, the Bulgarian government decided to switch sides after the Red Army captured Bucharest, leaving Germany's alliance to join the USSR's. Germany tried to get the Allies embroiled in a war with the USSR by declaring war on Romania as well, but the Soviet and American leadership soon negotiated a white peace once Romania was annexed. (This was via a vanilla event, that strangely doesn't require the USSR and Bulgaria to be at war).

The situation in the Middle East and Africa seemed uncertain. The Soviets hoped that it would end in the Allies favour, thus removing any Axis threat in the region.

The balance of power in Asia greatly shifted in Germany's favour as it's well-known unofficial Japanese ally defeated Nationalist China completely. Stalin decided to initiate certain precautions as a result.

War was taking its toll on all countries involved, with the Red Army proudly finding that is' inflicted/losses ratio being 4-to-1.

That is one awesome Germany

My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw that invasion of NA in early '40 :ninja:

Can the USA make a stand and hold out on the west coast? It needs too to have any chance of a way back. Lord Jarski, do you have MC of ENG, particularly its navy?

Well, it took some time for USA to react...
