If the above changelog is too concise for you, here is the step by step account of what we did between January and April:

Code:
CORE 0.61 for AoD

2012-12-26:
Made a copy of the 0.60(.25) release version, started various experiments

2013-01-07:
Made a fresh install and restarted development

*** Economic rebalancing
db:
Introduced consumer good need reduction based on development level (FI get increase), analogous to existing military salary levels
Increased the reduction of salary / CG need for low development nations.

misc.txt
# IC to Money Ratio
	2.6 # was 2.3 in 0.60
# Military salary cost.. each MP in military service will cost this amount.
	0.018 # was 0.022 in 0.60
# _EV_MP_TO_CG_, How much IC does each MP provide in CG?
	0.005 # was 0.009 in 0.60

.inc:
Agricultural nations have a small money income from taxing agricultural produce and trade
Small or poor agricultural nations have 1 free money
Medium agricultural nations have 2 free money
Large agricultural nations (IND, CHI) have 3 free money

events:
Burma road events trade with "world market" and not with India. This prevents India from being overloaded with money.
Basic Burma road event no longer trades for metal (which China has plenty) but for the equivalent amount of energy
Other optimisation to Burma road trades
(China economy is collapsing due to lack of energy, reducing money production from industry)
Reduced the money cost of transfer of industry events by 60% (which were meant to draw off excess money from China)
China can reduce Burma Road supplies when out of money
Increased the "colonial modifier" for IND manpower (or rather reduced the relative_manpower settings)
Reduced the direct manpowerpool gains of IND with a colonial multipliers

scenario:
Checked and optimised several trades, GER and CHI
Corrected one bad trade TUR/GER where TUR sent both money and rares to GER rather than getting paid for their rares

ai:
Improved some JAP invasion ai files with knowledge gained during 0.60 Pacific war ai writing

Zsar´s bug list:
12 29 HOL Foreign Minister should be 8066, not 8003.
14 33 Guatemala has a core on <El> Salvador at gamestart. [They should have] claims on British Honduras/Belize, but where does this core come from? - Claim on El salvador deleted but no claim on Belize added.
16 35 Missing scenario descriptions for India in scenario_text.csv. Draft provided. <RO>(used a slightly differently worded text)
17 40 ARM divisions ROM gains by event are named "Divizie <number> Armura", while naming scheme for production is "Divizia <number> Armura"[.] <Rafn>
22 52 The outmost AND-clause in event 20007 [is] superfluous. Reduce complexity, increase readability.
39 Events 169028 and 169029 should refer to "Battleship", as Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were supposed to be battleships with placeholder armament. <VoO> - referred to as "light battleships" now
41 Cored_ai_fin 32066 has as its desc "AI ITA: Cancel War Aid FIN", but it only involves GER+FIN.
43 Events 820320 and 820321 sleep non-existing event 8200322. Should be 820322. <Rafn> (reported fixed by Denniss)
44 SWE CoN should be 7009 instead of 7086.
45 JAP 470133 should sleep itself and variant 134 (currently only 134), 134 should sleep 133 as well.
48 Events 830145, 830146 and 830147 use undefined name string EN830142. (reported fixed by Denniss)
51 Turkish CoA should be the same person as the CoS, 1922-1944 Fevzi Çakmak.
53 Event 830433 has wrong tag GER - should be USA. <AcknTT>(reported fixed by Denniss)

Formal:
Introduced reformatted tech files by Denniss
Reformatted event files and .csv text files by Denniss:
45 (=all?) flavour event files
CAN, JAP, CHI, MEN, USA, ENG, SOV gameplay files
3 x "other" event files
random.txt event file
CORE2_secret_weapons.txt
JAP, CHI, VIC, USA, election vanilla event files
ENG, FIN, GER, ITA, JAP ai event files

2013-01-13

scenario:
Reworked several trade deals of GER and JAP, splitting some
Changed several GER and JAP trade deals with Western nations for raw materials to money instead of supplies
Checked several trade deals for correctness against resource_values.csv

db/gfx:
Corrected some Australian minister db errors.
Got new Frederick Stewart minister pic M56046 from Hagar

province.csv
Recalculated oil need (increased need, reduced availability)
Removed 2 IC from China
Removed 1 IC from Yunnan

ai:
Significantly increased extra_convoys_war for Japan AI (max 0.75 for naval_build.ai) - probably does nothing
Made Japan more likely to trade with other nations prior to war for rares and energy
Reduced likelihood of Japan trading with SOV
Modified the oil need of semi-industrialised nations to reduce oil availability
Removed "XX builds transports" events from all nations that had them: ITA, HOL, FRA, ENG, CAN, AST, USA, SAF
All countries can still "convert convoys" to transports

events:
Locked two more Japanese divisions (Koran border), with unlock events
Rewrote the events returning West Africa to French colonial rule and transferred them to CORE_General.txt
Added Japanese land tax events
Modified the Japanese PM and extra mobilisation events to cut back on the extra IE Japan receives.
Ended up with just -1IE for this incarnation.

Denniss:
Set all dormant divisions to a suitable low initial MP setting to avoid military salaries for them
Corrected all relevant event files to increase them to desired manpower by damage_division
Further exported lots of event text

Zsar´s bug list:
10 25 Turkish CoA Mehmet Nuri Yamut (12008) has a wrong picture. <VoO>-pic received from Hagar
19 47 CXB may choose "No Thanks" in the united front event and be dragged into the war anyway, as it auto-enters the alliance with CSX when CHI does.
30 Event 15083 should be mutually exclusive with event 980029 (double offmap ressources). <AcknTT>
31 Event 15083 should not enable tech 6730 (1938 Infantry Division). <AkknTT>
32 Some JAP and MAN units on the soviet border should be locked. <Rafn> (next three posts)[color=#FF0000]
38 Ensure that all puppet countries have "war = 0" set in their A.I. files to prevent auto-DoW for seperate war against master's foes. <VoO> - done for CXB, IND, IRQ, MAN, PHI, U02
49 Event 15072 should not grant tech 6730.
50 Event 20031 checks whether non-existant events 2024 (should be 370450) and 2046 (should be 370452) have fired.

So, what is CORE 0.61?

Let´s say it is CORE 0.60 with another 4 months of design work. We have had about 2,000 downloads of CORE 0.60 and a lot of feedback from the users. Add to this the detailled comments by our Beta testers on Terranova and you have got literally hundreds of small, medium and large changes to make. So 0.61 is really a much more polished version of 0.60, with many weaknesses, in substance or form, ironed out.

You will find major changes in the Japan/China/Pacific theater, from new events to economical rebalancing to map connectivity changes. The China war was probably the larges weakness in 0.60, where change made late in the design process suddenly changed a balance that had been very satisfying for a one year testing cycle. Please comment on what you see there, but we are certain that there already significant improvements.

Bitter Peace, especially the variant where Japan is in the war, should be significantly improved. We also treat Finland during Bitter Peace in a lot of detail, so strange outcomes like neutral Finland being rewarded with large tracts of land (or Communis Finland!) should be gone. A new coding trick should also prevent isolated provinces from remaining Soviet after Bitter Peace.

So download, play, comment and motivate us devs to have a go at 0.62!

Playing as GER. The trade deals with ROM and MEX usually are cancelled within 14 days. Since both are essential for oil supply, is there a way to avoid this? I´ve tried to give ROM energy for free, but they seem to lack a fraction of oil and therefore cancel everything. Maybe give them more resources or reduce the amount of oil that´s traded away.

Don´t know if this is a vanilla or a CORE problem. Playing as SOV. In early 1936 SOV has quite some demand of oil. Looking at the statistics it says that industry is producing 1.7 oil and isn´t using any oil at all. Since Baku alone produces 94 oil I think it may be due to industry consumption that is not displayed. Looking at the available IC (220 atm) this would mean each IC consumes 0.5 oil - is that WAD?

What does it say when you put the mouse over the oil icon/numbers up top?
remember that AOD does have those over-stockpile-limit losses.

The tooltip isn´t much different from the statistics screen. AFAIK AoD does not have the over the stockpile limit loss, DH does. But anyway, it´s only at the beginnig of 1936 and there is a stockpile of 2,300 oil, that´s hardly over any limit.

Lots of oil gets used by population, some 17 or so are traded away and ~5 are used by non-moving troops.

Then it seems that the population´s demands for oil has increased since version 0.60., for there I had 34 oil home produced right from the start (compared to 1.7 oil in 0.61).

Since I couldn´t find any variable in the misc.txt file it looks like CORE has set this variable. Shouldn´t it at least be tied to the economic development value?

Oil usage by IC was recalculated for 0.61. But this was really an adjustement that we missed out on for 0.60. The oil/IC balance was calculated for 0.41 (for ARM). When moving to AoD, we had to increase IC due to the different game mechanics, but never went back and re-calculated the oil use of this extra IC. So, basically, we should now have a situation similar to the CORE 0.41 situation.

And oil usage is industrial development level dependent.

First post updated with (experimental) version of 0.61 graphics pack.

A fresh install is recommended, but installing it over an existing version should not break anything.

Please report on its use.
