First off, this is my first post, and I must say, an excellent game so far. Playing as the Byzantines, managed to reforge Roma to a small scrap of her glory, however the Imperial Reconquest CB is giving me a headache. As is France. However from what I can see on imperial reconquest, I'm a bit confused. Currently, when I select that CB as my cause for war, it shows me that upon victory the following items become true.

1.) "Insert target here" loses X Prestige.

2.) "Insert Emperor here" Takes all Occupied Territory.

3.) "Insert Emperor here" Takes or vassalizes all titles in X Duchy.

My question is, when does one take the territory instead of vassalizing them, and why does it mean by taking all occupied territory? If I occupy the entire lands of France, I doubt this would give me all the duchies in France. As for taking vs. vassalizing, I'd much rather take than vassalize, and decide who gets the land rather than the current inhabitants. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Could this be a typo from previous versions of this CB?

"Occupied" territory is territory you've sieged down with your armies. I've never used this CB, but as I'm reading it, it's the same as an Invasion CB: all the territories you conquered with your army are cleared out and become yours, to keep or divide up between vassals as you wish. Any you don't bother to conquer because you're already at 100% warscore retain their original lords, who then become your vassals.

EDIT: And of course you can't keep any territory that's not inside the de jure area you're warring for.

That would make sense, I've used the Invasion CB and took England as Ireland in one fell swoop. However with the Imperial Reconquest CB, I occupied the entire duchy in question, and yet, the french nobles remained in charge, counts, and barons all. Not sure if this is intentional or something is quite wrong.

It seems intentional.

The patch after Legacy of Rome, they nerfed it HARD. I don't see why they did both of the nerfs, one would have been enough..

This is what they did:

Made it so only Roman Empire can use it (not byzantines)

Added the very annoying "Takes or vassalizes all titles"

In my opinion, the takes or vassalizes all titles was too far. If you reform the Roman empire its not like you are going to lose at that point. Making it so it seems randomly people stay in power just makes it really annoying because you have to manually revoke the titles.

I hate invasion cb too because of this, you have to manually revoke every single barony and county when you win. It just is such a hassle and takes up so much time and makes my fingers get sore I just dont even bother anymore. I just mend the schism and holy war instead so i get the titles. Also it is nice to reduce the authority of papist faith from that.

I tried going to the mod forum to try to get the old fashioned imperial reconquest which gave you all the titles which you won, but no one responded. perhaps you will get better luck

'take or vassalise' actually means 'vassalise unless the lord in question happens to have lands outside of the area fought for, in which case you 'take' the lands he/she abandons'

The muslim invasion CB has an incorrect suggestion that lands you occupy during the war become yours irrespective of whether the lord there would stay or not (you don't get this benefit), would not be surprise if that line if Imperial reconquest is also not meaningful.

That makes a tremendous amount of sense. Thank you my good man! Looks like I'll just have to bury a dagger in their french throats, not to mention the throats of their entire dynasties, after I take the lands.
