Simple question - how to get rid of it? Quite annoying in my Burgundy > France game as rebels are simply enermous due to my constant expansion (as soon as infamy allows it - I expand). I'm currently protestant, most of France is converted already, but my territories in Italy, Spain, England and HRE are still catholic (AKA majority is still catholic).

Not sure if it's Death & Taxes related, since I'm playing that mod, but just noting it here if it has anything to do with the mod.

would you happen to have a rather high war exhaustion? I find WE the most devastating parameter in regards to rebels

Nope, just the combination of some decisions, nationalism, constant expansion (which means that I ALWAYS have plenty of uncored provinces with different culture/religion). I don't remember any war in the past century or so I've gotten high WE in (I have about 200k army, #1 in the world, while the #2 is Muscowy with around 100k, every single other nation was defeated by me when I didn't like their army/territory expansion, too lazy to fight with Muscowy since they don't border me), since I am simply superior both in quality & quantity (I also have land tech advantage at all times).

And this religious turmoil event also does its own bad, since it adds 3% revolt risk...

So in other words - WE isn't even a concern for me since my army is pretty much invincible, I've even fought a coalition of Castille, England, Portugal (3 biggest colonial powers in my game, logically, with Portugal & England having their capitals in the Americas, because England mainland is invaded by me & Portugal mainland was raped by Castille, combined those nations had a larger army than I did, but they had them spread across colonial empires, which I'm not building) with no war exhaustion at all.

Either convert the provinces of other religions or get your tolerance for those religions to 1 or higher. Ecuminism can be very helpful for that. It doesn't count wrong religion provinces for turmoil only the ones you don't tolerate. I think in D&T since ecuminism is nerfed you might need to take declaration of indulgence as well to get over 1 tolerance of heretics.

I had that problem for decades..... Now most of my provinces are Reformed and the turmoil is gone. The only real solution seems to convert the provinces to your religion. It takes time, especially if you're an expansionist with many provinces. I'm not exactly sure of the percentage needed, but you need to not have any religion higher than a certain % for the turmoil to go (someone told me 10% but i can't confirm). What i did was to concentrate on catholicism since most provinces were catholics. I didn't send any missionaries to Protestant or Animist provinces. In time, most of my provinces became reformed and the turmoil is gone.... with an occasional zealot from time to time, but not that often.

One thing i did that helps in the long run is to add the "Forced conversion" to my wars. It means that my wars take longer to complete since conversion take 50% and i want as much provinces as my infamy can allow. It pays in the long run. I'm England and i forced conversion on Burgundy a while ago. Burgundy then converted many of its provinces to reformed so in my last war i took two provinces that were already converted. Plus, forcing conversion puts the other contry in trouble and it cuts their income drastically. Well, as an expasionist nation, I think it's a good strategy to force "soon-conquered nation" to make some of the converting for you :)

The religious turmoil is annoying, but religion WAS a serious problem once the Reformation started. It would be lame for a game like EU3 not to incorporate religious troubles. Of course, it's much easier to say once the turmoil is gone :)

Happy converting!

Aight, thanks for the info, I have about 30-40% Catholic provinces, Protestant is a bit more than 50% or so, so it's a long way to go. Problem is also that this turmoil event lowers tolerance of heretics, so it's hard to atleast keep it at 0 (need to spend national ideas on more military-related things, since I need to build a navy as I have higher naval potentional than England now).
