Demo Available Today, VO Trailer Featuring John Pinette Released
NEW YORK — March 14, 2013 — Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and conqueror of both mortal and supernatural realms, is proud to announce that Impire has been honored with a “Best in Play” award by GDC Play for 2013. Impire, the real-time dungeon-building and demon-managing title from Cyanide Studio Montreal, will be on display at the Cyanide kiosk on the GDC show floor. For information about “Best in Play” and how winners are vetted for the prestigious award, please visit: http://www.gdconf.com/events/bestinplay.html

“It’s fantastic to see Impire honored by a group that lives and breathes interactive entertainment,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “GDC Play and the Game Developers Conference are put together by the leaders and pioneers of our industry, and to receive an award from them is very gratifying. It gives me hope for the future of our own secret twisted underground kingdom.”

Players everywhere can now sample the award-winning Impire for themselves thanks to a free demo made available today. Impire, which challenges players to build a lair, summon squads of killer demons, and defend their hoards from invading heroes while progressing through a twisting story of revenge and greed, can be tried out at http://store.steampowered.com/app/202130/

To get a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the development behind Impire, Paradox has released a new trailer showing off the in-game vocal performance of comedian John Pinette as leading imp Baal-Abaddon. Check out the demonic dialogue here:

Before anybody makes a) sarcastic remarks comparing Impire with other released games or b) lyrical remarks extolling how it shows what a great game Impire is, GDC Play is a conference for emerging developers and the "Best in Play" award is awarded to the best games amongst those showcased at GCD Play. Being one of the 8 winners (our of 70-80 participants) is a significant achievement but it is not exactly the end of the world (either way. :p).

(Yes, you could find out as much by clicking on the link provided as well as seeing some of the other best games, but hopefully this'll prevent some obvious knee-jerk reactions given the controversies about the game in this forum.)
