Of course read Leviticus it is a sin to waste your seed....that means no wanking and no pulling out. He's probably a better Christian in that regard than most others.

lol...

That is also not the point at all. The claim here was that the idea of "more sexually permissive" pagans is modern, not that Pagan poligamy is a modern idea. And in any case, that is not the point of this topic.

Well I would say that polygamy is a bit "more sexually permissive" than monogamy. So the point is in fact perfectly valid. And the topic of this thread has been so derailed already that it should be closed anyway. Not that there was much to discuss, anyway.

It would be inappropriate to make lithuanians (or Romuva pagans) polygamic. Lithuanian rulers had many wives (as they died freaquently...) but only one wife at a time.

Don't forget the fact that many more pagans died in the wild/hunting/in raids (because there were so many more raids, apparently), than in Christian population centers (where men and women died evenly due to disease, and women certainly died more from childbirth, where pagan household conditions were rather cleaner than those of European cities).

Urbanisation was a low percentage of population in this era. In any event, 'pagans didn't farm as much and didnt live in cities' wasn't a lifestyle choice (or a consequence of religeous affliations), it was a consequence of the lands they were in being (generally) less suitable to those activities. In any event, pagans in game run from the norse, to the tuareg, to the middle of africa. Do you seriously think you can run that common a link between them (especially given later history)?

You're probably right.
