We can do some experiments, but I think the burden of proof is on those who think a destroyer can defeat a battleship despite having inferior stats in everything that matters.

Looking at the first picture there is something weird. The US lost one BB and 5 DD and China lost 12 DDs. But the range of the encounter is shown beyond were the DDs could even fire. Were there Chinese planes involved as well as the US planes?
You've also got the issue where the BB fleet is poorly put together, with too few screens.

If we're being pedantic, you haven't actually showed me that a destroyer can defeat a battleship.
You've shown 10 destroyers can defeat 3 battleships and 1 destroyer in some dubious circumstances.
Actually, it would be 40 new destroyers versus 3 old battleships and 4 old destroyers and some planes.
What would be more interesting would be equivalent tech BBs versus the same IC-worth of DDs. Plus some mixed fleet BB+DDs versus IC same just DDs.

Yeah, trouble here is that we don't know what the attachments are on either side. I seem to recall a version of the game where torpedoes added about 6 sea attack.
