Here is what happened. People that were registered on the forums on the 15th of January 2013, had recent forum activity** and had not chosen to turn off "Receive Email from Administrators" under "My Profile" -> "General Settings" was sent a free copy of Europa Universalis 3 Chronicles to be redeemed in steam. This we did to celebrate that our forums now have over 500 000 registered users, to give a little something back to our loyal fans and thank you all for helping us achieving this remarkable milestone.
What did this key give you exactly?
- The key is a steam key that will unlock EU3 and the expansions Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind. The game will only show as Europa Universalis 3 in your Steam library, but if you right click the game and go to "View Downloadable Content" you should see that you also have the two Expansions listed.
How do I get that nifty little forum icon under my name?
- If you right click Europa Universalis 3 in your Steam library and select "Show CD keys" you should see 3 CD keys, one for each game. You can register these under respective game in "My Games" at the top (3 icons, not 1 Chronicles icon. This is the case for this steam version and nothing we can do anything about, read more about that here).
I was registered on the forums at the 15th, I still did not receive any EU3 code
- Did you opt out for receiving admin emails?
- Did you at any point receive an email from us and clicked the link "I do not wish to receive more emails" or "Unsubscribe" in that email?
If the answer to any of the above questions is "Yes", then I'm afraid that is why you did not receive the code
- Did you receive any previous newsletters from us?
- Did you check the email address that is registered to your forum account?
Is the answer yes to these questions, have you checked your spam folder?
