Which of these ships is the best? I built a bunch of ironclads but my economy cannot presently support them, so I'm looking at other options, like reducing the number or replacing them with other ships. How much of a clear edge does high attack/hull give me? It's 1865.

If you mouse over the little icon for each ship it will tell you it's respective stats. Basically, there are two kinds of ships: Capital ships (Men of War, Ironclads, Dreadnoughts), and lighter ships (Frigates, Commerce Raiders, Monitors, Cruisers). Each new rank of ship is always more powerful than the last, so a Commerce Raider is always more powerful than a Frigate but is less powerful than a Monitor, and an Ironclad is better than a Man of War but will be sunk by a Dreadnought.
