Socialists Arrested

The Anarchist in Spain were in for a bad time as we could read in the paper that the Government had arrested many of the leaders of the CNT-FAI and those who had evaded the arrest had either fled or gone underground. We heard that some of them had crossed the mountains to France and were now trying to get French support. Many of the blokes in my unit who were into politics said that we would definitely hear about them in the Third International.

In April the papers were all about good news, at least for Socialists. Zappata had died in Mexico and Marshall Arango also known as Pancho Villa had taken the power and introduced a Totalist way of thinking in Mexico. All this had supposedly happen during siesta.

The Germans were also on the move to crackdown Socialist where ever they could. Their banning of Free Workers Union of Germany raised alot of tension between France and Germany. And rumor was that someone had suggested attacking Germany over this but the Cabinet had dismissed this idea as foolish. Tells you a lot about how tense situation really is.

The sad news were that the Spartakied was going to be held in Manchester, in Britain that is. Well maybe next time it will come to France.

Road to the Third International

We were all waiting for the coming Third International, all with our own reasons of course. I read from the papers that the Arabs were holding a conference in Cairo. I wonder what's that about.
CairoConference_zps5247f04b.jpg

May 3rd, news came in that the preparations were almost finished and invitations had been sent to the socialist parties of the world. How exciting, soon Paris would be filled with women. I think I have to do some extra work on the exercises to gain some leave.

The following days were filled with news concerning Socialists all over the world. Like in Denmark the Venstre won the Folketing Elections of 1936.
DanishLeft_zpsdc6792f0.jpg

And like in Netherlands where the government refused to compromise with the socialists when the living standards were worsening.
NetherlandSocialist_zps14f3d9c5.jpg

And in Bolivia where the Socialists were defeated by Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario, a Populist party. I wonder what will the Socialist leaders decided in the Third International. It's only few days away and I got the much needed leave.

Danish Venstre is not really socialist, but okay.:p

Third International part 1

Morning in Paris, the city awakes to the bells of Notre Dame. The fisherman fishes, the bakerman bakes and hookers they hook. Yes finally in Paris. So many colors of sound, so many changing moods and so many people. Delegations from all over the world have arrived to take part of the Third International. The city is so busy and decorated, people drink on every cafe and pub. They sing songs and dance on the streets and parks. Wine flows while the officials began to assemble for the congress.

May 8th the hangover is a horrible one, too much wine and no women. I guess the boys and I got little carried away but the papers tell us that the Prime Minister has started the congress by stating that Bourgeoise scum has to be rid of the world by any means necessary. I salut you Prime Minister. I better go and cure the hangover with some wine and bread. And not to forget cheese, greasy cheese.

May 9th all I remember is that I heard that Italy, Britain and France have pledged their support for for Spanish Anarchist. Goody good.
SyndicalismSPain_zps1e18b7d9.jpg

May 10th the modern day Benjamin Franklin John "Jack" Reed talked to the congress and gained the support of Mexico, Italy, France and Britain. I also met a nice French girl last night, Marie, I think she is from Marseilles or Brest, can't really remember but she had a nice pair of breasts.

Wtf? Venstre was and is an Agrarian party solidly placed on the right side of the Danish political spectrum. They're about as socialist as MacArthur.

Third International part 2

May 11th marked the fourth day of the International. While the workers of France and the world get together in Paris the Congress was in full speed of discussing the matters of the World. My comrade in arms Benoit told me that he heard from an Union leader he had shared a drink last night that the International had decided to begin nurturing socialism in Latin America and that they were looking for volunteers to be send there. Benoit said that he was seriously thinking about leaving there to get some action and a chance to kill capitalist.

Marie and I have spend a lot of time together the past two days and I have learned that she is part of Marseilles Jacobins. She is very fanatical about socialism and has talked to me a lot of about her beliefs. She has even tried to get me to join politics but I don't really think that it's for me or if I even could be political while in the unit. The good thing is that she doesn't seem to mind about my past or that I'm in the army because of my crimes. She was very happy to hear that the International agreed that women have also a role in the World Revolution.

There were couple of days break in the Congress and on 15th when they returned it was all about White Terror. Stories about how the capitalist abused the workers and committed atrocities were told in the congress and in Paris. The International single mindedly condemn these actions.

Third International part 3

I hadn't slept properly since the start of the International and that was all thanks to the wine and parties. The socialists sure knew how to throw a party. While others were more interested to the wine there were still those who constantly waited for news from the International. Marie was one of those and she had become my first source of news. She told me that the Italians gained the support of all the member parties and they were all ready making plans for the 2nd Unification.
Italia_zps3456e9a7.jpg

The economic crisis of 1936 had helped the International to gain the support of workers and the unemployed all over the world. The Stage had been set for a world revolution.

The final party to ask support was Bhartiya Commune in India. UoB and France agreed to send military advisers to train their armies.

So in May 19th ended the first congress of the Third International. It was time to leave Paris and return to my unit, which also meant parting ways with Marie. She was going back to Marseilles but we agreed to keep in touch via letters. I hope that I will see her again in the future.

Only good can come out from the unification of Italy. For France at least.;)

Federated Italian or from the Republic... they're all run away :p

FAUD banned, no war

Following the decisions made in the First Congress we heard bad news from Germany. The Free Worker's Union of Germany had been banned by the government. Our whole unit was put on a high alert as was the whole army. Some talked that this was it, the war had started and soon we would face the German horde. But later the day the high alert was cancelled and we returned to our normal readiness. I guess the war didn't start just yet. Later the week I received a letter from Marie who told me that the government had been very close in declaring war on Germany but the High Command of the Army had persuaded them not to.

CNT-FAI leaders had arrived to France after the crackdown of them in Spain. Some of them started training in the units near of us but none of them came to train with us, I guess we do not exist.
CNTHelp_zps9ad3cad5.jpg

The papers told us that German Empire had granted voting rights for women. Something good has come out of the First Congress, maybe soon there is no need for war.
WOmencanVote_zps90c3b09b.jpg

News concerning our friends in ideology told us that Mexico had started to undergo huge changes to their armed forces. Around the same time our exercises started to be more frequent and involved operation behind enemy lines under constant threat of enemy. Not sure what was this all about.

July 14th was the Bastille Day, the day when the revolutionaries stormed Bastille and the day that marked the beginning of the First French Revolution. Hurrah.
Bastille_zpsfda850a1.jpg

Also they held an art festival that involved Syndicalist artists. Boring, not a my kind of festival but Marie had liked it or so she claimed in her latest letter.

Quite the naive guy, this narrator, eh?:p

Elections

Later the Autumn the news were all about elections all over there world. In Sweden the Left-Wing won the elections with the lead of Per-Albin Hansson.
SwedenELc_zps432c5655.jpg

United States of America messed up their elections and they invited the army to step in and secure the government. Douglas MacArthur took over as the President and a military junta was established. Not a good thing for Jack Reed.
USAELec_zps96c76c5d.jpg

Italian Federation elected Stephen X as the Pope who in the other hand choose an Hapsburg to become the King of Italy, thus bringing Austrian dominance to northern Italy. SRI was said to condemn the new Pope straight away. Marie also sent me a letter where she told that she was in Naples helping the Italians with organization and administration. I hope she won't get involved in anything risky.

Philip Snowden announced his resignation in late September. Rumor was that he was forced to resign but nobody knows for sure.

In Norway the Agrarians took over in the elections.

2nd American Civil War

Louis came rushing in to the mess hall this morning holding a paper in his hands and yelling "USA is collapsing! War in America!" Apparently the southern states had seceded from Washington with the lead of Long and his minutemen. We were in for some great news for the upcoming weeks.
LongDec_zpsd108da7b.jpg

Word was that not only had the South seceded but the whole Pacific coast had also formed their own state. Talk about a civil war between three sides. Now that's something. Marie wrote to me again and told that there were a lot of mafia men backing their backs in Italy, all heading to Americas.
PSA_zps2274ba0c.jpg

While most of the news we heard were about the Civil War in America, there were news that were worth mentioning back in Europe. Like for one that UoB and Norway made bond between them. How nice, maybe the Syndicalism spreads to Norway peacefully now.

Japan also wanted piece of the now collapsing USA, so they send forces to seize Guam.

Syndicalism never spreads peacefully.;)

Aid for Jack Reed

November 7th was the day when Jack Reed and CSA rose against the oppressor and joined the American Civil War. This was major news for us as now the French volunteers would join the fight against Capitalism and hopefully bring peace ever lasting to America. None from our group volunteered to this but we kept close eye on the papers and listened radio reports when ever possible. Our training also got more intense by the day.
AmericanCiv_zps9a3366b0.jpg

When we heard that Germany wasn't supporting neither side in the civil war, we were happy because this meant that Jack Reed didn't have to fight against German equipment.
NoGer_zps8cddd3d2.jpg

News came that Russia had lend it's support for Long and the AUS. USA would be in trouble if no one lends them aid.
YesRus_zps08efdf64.jpg

Canada forced by the fear of CSA taking over North America did send volunteers and equipment to USA. Jack Reed's fight would be hard and long.
YesCand_zps39609732.jpg

Canada had also seized New England before CSA could take it over. New England formed an separate state under Canada. News also told us that Canada had seized both Alaska and Panama. Those greedy British remnants.
