For those that don't know what the guild (2) is:
It is basically a top-down mix of of strategy and rpg + a nice mix of economics and general backstabbing thrown in, where you play a dynasty in the 15th century (crusader kings style), which you control top-down ala starcraft (you can control up to 3 members at a time) and you try to insert your influence while competing with rival dynasties. You start as a commoner and can advance in economic power (be rich by making bussiness...some shadier than others), diplomatic influence (show wealth by having feasts in your house or advance in the cities councils) or even by brutal force (hire lots of thugs and make a pyre out of your enemies).
Overall, especially with the 2 expansions and the polishing, it is a great game....it is also a game that didn't sell all that great due to an extremely rough start (for example, very bad pathways).
However, the idea itself is highly unique and the actual blend very much succeeded (although it wasn't as deep as people would like at places).
The company that used to make the guild games has sort of...well...not doing anything with it (or in general). The more I think about it, the more it seems obvious: Paradox interacting studio should make The guild 3.
Think about it. It is a unique game, whose mix, although very strange, worked. It is a game that has the potential for extreme complexity, it is a strategy game of the kind that paradox loves (even though it isn't a grand strategy or a map-based one). It is a historical-based game. Aaaaand, maybe the most important of all, it is a potential cash cow, at least according to most reviewers.
I know this is a kind of unusual request/food for thought, but hey who knows?
