Chapter XII: Turn of the Century (Conquest of Russia Part I)

The Peasants war hit hard and slowed down our colonizing process. Their were still some willing to colonize.... just not enough. War was an un-needed necessity at the moment. We looked for ways to expand Via Royal Marriage. The only one, was Tirol. One Royal Marriage and a claim Later.

Then, something bad happened. The Ottomans cleared out all nations to the Caspian Sea.

What's that in Corfu?

Are you going to push into the steppes until the GH is no more? Or is the main goal to form Italy and recreate the Roman empire?

1) Thats Aquileia in Corfu.
2) Im gonna push until the world is mine.

The Golden Horde is being a bad boy, it realised that you had peasants rebelling against your rule and then decided to attack!

Thats not gonna stop us now

Chapter XIII: The Horde Is Broken (Conquest of Russia Part II)

2012-12-23_00021_zps8b8396c5.jpg

The Golden Horde are finished!! Even if we are not the ones that destroy them, there is no coming back from whats happening!! Both Us and The Ottomans are pushing into The Horde with all our might. We needed to grab as much land as possible. The problem was that the Ottomans might cut off our expansion into The Horde if were not careful. They've already begun expanding into Nogai!!

But before we begin, here is an early look at the Religious map of Europe.

2012-12-23_00022_zps402f9189.jpg

Hope you'll stay Ferrara - Italy blobs are a somewhat common sight, and Italy has about the ugliest tone of green there is. Kazakh or Pommerania green... much better, but doesn't compare to huge Ferrara

In my opinion forming a nation makes more sense if you either A. don't own all the the territory you will get cores on so that you can then gain a CB and go on a conquest spree to take them all or B. don't have cores on a big chunk of the territory and thus will get them by the forming decision. It's part of the reason why I didn't form France in my recent Burgundy game after I inherited them. And dear lord I do not want to even think about how overpowered you might be when all that territory you took from the Horde cores. At the very least, Europe will become a VERY interesting place.

To add to the point of History_Buff, nationalism wasn't really a thing back then if compared to the 1800's. To put things in perspective, Rome wasn't called the republic of Italy, it was called Rome or SPQR despite the large swaths of land. Ferrara's king wouldn't just abandon his title to create the kingdom of Italy, he'd much rather create the EMPIRE OF FERRARA! Which it kind of already is.

Bluntly, I would say, stay as the glorious nation of Ferrara!

Exactly, the people of your nations would not see themselves as Italians either because as Metternich put it "Italy is a geographic expression". Heck, even Count Cavor stated that "We have created Italy, now we must create some Italians". The King also would, as you put it, have no overwhelming desire to unite Italy as Italy if he already controls the whole of the Peninsula. On the other hand, if he merely controlled part of it, he might proclaim himself the King of Italy in order to lay claim to the rest of it and give him justification to go to war with the other nations laying claim to part of Italy in order to expand his power.

Im with History_Buff on this one. France has taken control of both Savoy and Genoa, Both being Italian Nations. If i wanted to expand into france early, forming Italy is a must instead of waiting to get the "BECAUSE I CAN" casus belli when they start Blobbing into americas. the only thing i can hope for is them losing a heir for a PU which doesnt happen often.

Well I don't know if people of Savoy felt more Italian than French in the 15th century. Their langage was probably closer to Provencal than Neapolitan and the Duke of Savoy (at least until the 17th century) were having an eye much more on the French side of the Alps than on the other side (the 15th Century was the period in which Savoy expanded up to Lyon doorstep and the Capital was actually in Chambéry - Savoy province in the game- not in Turin - Piemont). The Capital was only moved to Turin in the early 16th.

Chapter XVI: The End Of The Golden Horde (Conquest of Siberia Part II)

The Horde has been pushed to the Brink of destruction. All that was left was to finish colonizing their provinces.

2012-12-23_00055_zpsf4570f9c.jpg

Then we completed our mission of converting Cremona, which for some reason was orthodox. Our new mission was simple.

End of Chapter XVI

That was a frighteningly successful war against the Horde, you've created a monster! The Muscovy mission was a good move, that's a core in a very isolated position that I'm sure will be useful. What are your ambitions from here? If you continue to smack the Horde's around you're going to reach China in no time, and you have a long border with the Ottoman's which is just crying out for a war or two.
