Ruled By King Niccolo III d'Este. Also ruler of the neighboring Kingdom of Modena through a Personal Union.

With the powerful Milan to the west, Venice to the North, Leaders Of Christendom to the south, Expansion options are limited... Austra, Aquileia and Naples also make for formidible foes in Ferrara's future. But that just makes it even more fun. Its no fun with no struggle.

3) No more then TWO Personal Unions at a time.
4) Both Vassals and PU nations MUST BE BORDER NATIONS!!! only exemption is if PU is formed accidentally without claiming the throne
5) Expansions Through non HRE members is okay, but the second im hit with Over-extension, Conquest stops. NO MATTER WHAT.
6) If Gone over the Infamy limit, then Vassals must be released until there are 5 points between amount and limit.
7) No Cheats No Restarts
8) Everything is on Normal, with the Exemption of Colonizing. Set to 200.
9) Luck Nations off

Expansion Goals:
1) All Italian/Lombard Provinces owned
2) Africa
3) Iberian Peninsula
4) Balkans
5) Greece
6) Anatolia
7) Middle East/Holy Lands
8) Southern France
9) North America

Political Goals:
1) Own 5 Centers of Trade
2) Stay Catholic
3) Defender Of Faith
4) Hold HRE Seat
5) Push Muslims and Orthodox out of Europe

Crazy idea; still, should be as good as your others.

But with all those restrictions? 2 vassals and 1 PU? That be crazy talk!

Good luck though!

But with all those restrictions? 2 vassals and 1 PU? That be crazy talk!

In My Scotland AAR, I PU with Scandinavia, Castille, Bohemia, Moscovy(who blobbed into GoldenHorde, Nogai AND Kazan) Austria, and Bavaria..... at the same time. Needless to say, it got boring VERY quickly. I also had more vassals then i could remember. I got to the point where if i declared war, i wouldnt need to do anything. at one point I had nearly 20 vassals.

Chapter I: Just Getting Started

Kingdom Of Ferrara

Overlooked by all, easy conquest by others. Niccolo knew this, and he was ready for more power within the empire. As Ruler of both Ferrara and and Modena, he felt he had a strong pull in the Central States... He was wrong. To all others around him, he was just a Duke trying to play King and not allowed to be touched, Thanks to the Emperor. His First order was a change in domestic policies. With limited manpower, he fely he needed to better train his troops that he did have.

2012-11-20_00003.jpg

Next, He needed allies, Royal marriages, anything to give him more diplomatic pull. The only other nation that said yes was Urbino.

2012-11-20_00004.jpg

Royal Marriages were sent to Mantua and Tuscany. neither of them wanted to ally with us.

2012-11-20_00005.jpg

Following that, we received a Diplomatic Insult from the noble council in Modena.

2012-11-20_00006.jpg

Milan and Aquileia felt the need to become important, so they guaranteed our independence.

2012-11-20_00007.jpg

Shortly after, Bar was Excommunicated from the Catholic Church.

2012-11-20_00009.jpg

Our Aristocrats were happy with the Government positions that they were given. They gave us a small contribution.

2012-11-20_00010.jpg

2012-11-20_00011.jpg

Now Savoy guarantees our Independence.....ok??

2012-11-20_00012.jpg

AND NOW SICILY??? OK this is just getting stupid, we arent so weak to need protection from the sicilians to the south.

2012-11-20_00013.jpg

Because of this Atrocity, 1000 men were added to our army. Making a total 2000 troops(AWESOME RIGHT YEA I KNOW!!!).
The Papal States werent as lucky though. There was a large scale Rebellion in Rome, causing the defeat of their army, leaving them with no troops left over.......

Conquest Begins NOW!

The pope needs help for the rebellions, take some territory so that territory won't spawn any more rebels for him

I like the way you think!! all for the good of Chrisendom, riiiiiight??

What allies/guarantees does the Pope have? :D

The usual. Genoa And Sardinia. no one guaranteeing them. I already have my battle Strategy.

Subscribed!

Any chance of getting a real alliance off Milan rather than that feeble-in-comparison guarantee. If you could that'll really put Genoa off from joining the war against you and set you up for the next 100-or-so years!

Yeah, only crazy people reform the Roman Empire from OPMs ;)

I've never claimed I wasn't crazy. :)

EDIT: A great first update, ATBKING. Your goal in these early years should essentially be to get "too big to fail" -- in other words, too big to get annexed in one war.

Chapter II: War Vs the Pope & War for Southern Greece (Conquest Of Italy Part I)

War was declared on the Papal States. Not a single one of their allies joined.

2012-11-22_00001.jpg

It was an easy Victory. They didnt put up a fight or fuss at me for taking Romagna.

2012-11-22_00002.jpg

In 1402, we expanded our Bureaucracy.

2012-11-22_00003.jpg

The same year, Bohemia declared war on Austria, and this was the result.

2012-11-22_00004.jpg

France to the west began to take down everything in its path.

2012-11-22_00005.jpg

The following year, Niccolo had his first child. His name was Ercole, and his future looked Bright.

2012-11-22_00006.jpg

Romagna became a settlement state to change the culture from Umbrian to Lombard.

2012-11-22_00007.jpg

In an attempt to form an alliance with Milan, we sent for a Royal Marriage. They accepted.

2012-11-22_00008.jpg

But even with our relations at 200, there was no way that they would form an Alliance with us. We cancelled that mission. The new mission was to protect ourselves from Tuscany. Easily done.

2012-11-22_00009.jpg

Next Mission, Improve relations with our PU underling, Modena.

2012-11-22_00010.jpg

Next mission was a naval race against Aquileia. this one would take a little longer then the others for our lack of monetary gains.

Ten Years later, Venice sent us an offer for an alliance. It was out of the blue, but I would be honored to have an alliance such as theirs. Then Tuscany sent one to us as well. Then, something completely out of the ordinary happened.

2012-11-22_00011.jpg

We inherited the Throne of Achaea. I wasnt complaining. But a few years later, Achaea had a rebellion of 4000 people. No problem. The problem was that so did Morea. They were Trebizond Nationalist. 8000 men strong. I had no choice but to wither them down slowly, but I wasnt fast enough.

2012-11-22_00013.jpg

Now, They had revolted AND had 8000 troops replenishing. What was there for me to do?? Right when I was about to White peace them.....

2012-11-22_00014.jpg

With the provinces that they owned, It wasnt enough to fund 8000 troops. They lost all Moral. It was almost too easy.

2012-11-22_00015.jpg

2012-11-22_00016.jpg

2012-11-22_00017.jpg

We now owned southern Greece. What was there now to do??............. I hear Naples doesnt have an Heir.

Chapter III: War With Naples (Conquest Of Italy Part II)

2012-11-30_00001.jpg

Preparations were made for the Personal Union with Naples, with our royal marriage in place.

2012-11-30_00002.jpg

Naples allied armies consisted of:
1)Naples-6000
2)The Knights-1000
3)Provence-4000
4)Aragon-11000

Aragon would definately be the X-factor for this war. Hopefully Venice can handle their navies while we preoccupy Naples.

2012-11-30_00003.jpg

This is a problem. My allies 'Have better things to do' so they werent to be relied on. I would have to do this alone!!

I asked Urbino to join just to break our Alliance for future Expansion. All according to plan.

2012-11-30_00004.jpg

2012-11-30_00005.jpg

Savoy believed in our war efforts. I will have to than them for it later.

2012-11-30_00006.jpg

Aragon was a no show. Thank Goodness. This war could actually be won now!! Now, my 5000 Strong Army of Ferrara!!! MARCH TO ABRUZZI AND TO CERTAIN VICTORY!!

2012-11-30_00008.jpg

What do we have here!?!? Naples is BANKRUPT!!! Victory has already been decided!!

2012-11-30_00009.jpg

MARCH!!!! THIS WAR ISNT OVER YET!!!

During the war, we received monetary compensation from the Nobles who run the Church.

2012-11-30_00010.jpg

2012-11-30_00011.jpg

I then split the army into two to take down the The Capital Napoli and Calabria at the same time.

2012-11-30_00012.jpg

Now all that was left was Janina!!

2012-11-30_00013.jpg

2012-11-30_00014.jpg

The war was a Total Victory!! Thank God that the FORMER king of Naples was horrible with his ducats. With that, 30 Percent of Italy was under the control of King Niccolo.

Now Its time to deal with Urbino.

End of Chapter III
