How to Be Completely Mediocre at Playing Your Own Mod: Pregame

Hello, everyone, and welcome to my latest AAR!
My last AAR was ended just recently after a several month hiatus. This time I won't let something like that happen.
Anyways, I'm going to be playing my States Mod.
This mod is basically a division of the 48 contiguous American states into independent nations.

For those of you who haven't seen this mod before, here is a political and religious map of the States.

Now, before the actual AAR starts, I need to lay down the law, and a country must be chosen.
For this AAR, all settings will be on normal, except lucky nations, which will be turned off.
I would play this at a higher difficulty, but I have a feeling you guys are going to choose the most difficult choice for the nation.

Speaking of nations, let's take a look at the choices.

First off is Ohio. Ohio is a Catholic state situated in the far East of the Midwest, if that makes any sense to you. (I know I didn't understand it)
They start off with 5,000 men, and have a decent economy. They also have several missions to conquer the surrounding states.
On the downside, one of their provinces is Methodist, and other states can gang up on them quite easily due to their central position in the area.

Next, we have California. California is a completely Catholic state located on the West Coast.
They are very over-powered, and can conquer the entire Western section of states quite easily.
There are honestly barely any downsides for playing California.
They have the easiest time in forming the USA, are the largest state West of the Mississippi, and have a ridiculous assortment of missions.
However, this would make for an easy and boring AAR, so I advise caution if you consider this option.

After that, we have South Dakota. South Dakota is located within the Northern Great Plains.
It is rather weak, but is also surrounded by similarly weak states that counter its own problems.
They have several missions on neighboring states, and can form a decent nation before settling into the grind.
They are Lutheran, and could potentially use this to their advantage when declaring a war after getting their first National Idea.
South Dakota would expand with several short wars, followed by longer periods of peace while a suitable target is searched for.

Finally, we have Massachusetts. Massachusetts is a Catholic state located in Southern New England. (Not that they have any knowledge of the English, though)
They are small, and weak. They also have to contend with New York to the West, who can steamroll any nation they fight one-on-one.
Massachusetts does have several missions that they can use to expand their holding in New England.
Once a decent position is carved out, they would have to find a reliable ally and attack New York from 2 sides.

And those are your 4 choices. Please only one vote per person.

Voting will close Saturday at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time.

This will give you time to change your vote if you wish. No votes will be accepted beyond this time.

Thank you everyone for reading this and for (hopefully) following this AAR.

It's got to be Massachusetts for a Socialist USA ;)

And I'd like to see them form the CSA along the way!

Are there any unions besides USA? Like Cascadia, New England, CSA, Dakota, etc.?

If so, I'd like to see an intermediary union from either South Dakota or Massachusetts. If not, California, just because I can imagine it as NCR.

The total list of unions is:
Cascadia
Deseret
Great Plains
Dakota
CSA
Carolina
Northern Union
New England

and then USA

Also, thanks to everyone who has voted so far!

Massachusetts! Form New England and unite all those barbaric 'Muricans under your banner!

South Dakota. From the dark heart of the continent there shall be a great light, and we shall emerge to convert our neighbors to the true religion of lutefi-I mean Lutheranism.

Also, South Dakota conquering everything is just absurdicrous, as satilisu pointed out.

Ohio, since that is where you come from.
Also consider me subscribed

This looks interesting. I'll be reading it. By the way, I've lurked on these forums for a long time now, but never actually posted. But I will now to vote. Don't expect to see me often in the future though. For now anyways, I intend to stick to lurking.

Anyways, I think I'll go with my home state of Massachusetts. Show all those other states why Massachusetts is the best state! :D
