I'd personally be happy with a Cardinal College.

Actually, it was said that they wanted every faction to be playable eventually, with the exception of the Pope, not that they all definitely would be. Annoyingly, finding the quote is extremely hard (not least because Google can't crawl the Paradox site/forum properly.)
Doesn't help PI lacks any kind of "Dev Tracker" feature on its forum, as far as I'm aware. Would like to see the quote myself, as I recall the part about the Pope never being playable but I don't recall them saying flat-out that they wanted everyone else.
If so... yaaaaaay, has to mean Pagans are high up the list! That, and Republics, as using the Lord Mayor of Ormond to conquer Ireland would be most funs.

I agree, I don't think the Pope should be playable. The difficult part of a College of Cardinals however, is how to determine who should be on it? Should it be decided by what bishops have the highest learning skill? Or should it only be prince-bishops or price-archbishops? The downside to a game like CK2 when compared to M2:TW is there are so many factors to take into consideration when adding something like a College of Cardinals.

And so the endless circle of life comes to an end. Meaningless and grim. Why did they live and why did they die? No reason.
A cleverly made catholic politic system could be mighty awesome though.
The Vatican was a very important politic entity.
Ah well...
Im still waiting for the kitten kicking dlc that Johan promised.

Very true, but a very simplified version could be...
Automatically
All King Archbishops
Archbishops with >10 learning
Prince-bishops with >15 learning
Bishops with >20 learning and X Virtues / Mastermind Theo / X Piety / insert restriction
And the liege of the following to be able to ask for a Cardinalship from the Pope for...
All Court Chaplains of Empires
Court Chaplains of Kingdoms with >15 learning
Court Chaplains of Duchies with >20 learning
Court Chaplains of Counties with >25 learning
Empires and Kingdoms could get a bonus to asking, to simulate their "deserving" of having one of them, while Duchies are neutral and Counties maybe having a slight malus, "who are you from such a backwater to deserve it". Other modifiers could be Chaplain piety / prestige, type of Education trait (Learning traits mean a better chance), relation between liege and pope / chaplain and pope, liege piety, Crusader / Cynic / Zealous / Scholar / Mystic traits bonus/malus...

A pagan DLC would make WAY more sense than a republic one. This is a game about DYNASTIES, not countries. It would make way more sense to play as a pagan dynasty than to somehow incorporate an entirely different kind of political game into a medieval dynasty game.

Pagan dlc would be nice. But haveing a advanced diplomacy system would be also realy helpfull. I hate it that you can only make alliances by marriage. Dammit i want to be able to help someone if i like to.
Guys the new DLC the Aztec one do you think they will also add pagans?

Pagan dlc with earlier starting date would be great.
Imagine playing a Pagan Republic, that should be fun.
I would love playing pagans, hope that's the next dlc we'll get.
Now with Republic and Pagan's coming out what do you think the play with theocracies will be like Teutonic order and Papal States?
