Sup badides. tinking of doing an AAR using AoD. I've played alot of HoI2 but not that much of AoD. I am reasonably confidant of getting an easy victory with any of the major powers (England, USA, USSR, Germany, Japan IDK) in the 1936 scenario. Anyway I offer the following options for a game that would interest me.

1. Germany (maybe Japan?) 1944 Gotterdammerung. Not sure how many people have done this before.
2. Germany 1936, put the difficulty onto very hard. I've managed to beat the AI on VH in HoI2 but haven't tried it in AoD.
3. Cossacks Armageddon scenario. Unlike HoI2 they have nerfed the manpower down to 150 to start with (instead of 100) and you have chronic resource shortages and are at war with everyone around you.
4. Italy 1936. Haven't tried it in AoD at all. Used to invade the USR with them in vanilla.

I would try Romania or Manchukuo but with the changed made in AoD I'm not sure how well I could pull it off. The changes to resource value in trading, and having to spend IC to repair infrastructure and other changes seems to hurt smaller nations alot.

Götterdammerung Japan, as I remember you being good with a navy. Try to attack SU to save Germany, after China is done. A German Götterdammerung is fine too, though.

Gotterdammerung Japan isn't a primary idea and somehting I'm not keen on. If enough people demand it I'll cnsider it but taking on the bear in 44/45 is gonna get you killed or reduced to the home islands and you won't be able to save ermany anyway.

Democratic Germany in '36 vs a Stalinist France with a democratic Russia in the east would be cool to see.

Wouldn't Gotterdammerung be even harder in AoD due to the way trading is handled and allies bombing the hell outta your provinces requiring IC to repair?

...but this is exactly why it would be an interesting AAR to read :D .

(seriously, there are too many easy-win AARs around, so a tough one would be welcome)

I don't mind a hard AAR. Has anyone else pulled off a Gotterdammerung AoD Germany victory?

I did see that one but wasn't sure if it was AoD or a HoI2 mod as it has been up since early 2008.

Looks like he switched to AoD but he used an earlier version to get off the ground. Germany can't trade as effectively for resources in AoD.

Ah that's true, then I vote for the 44' either as Germany or Japan, I think Japan has more severe resource problems due to them having 320IC (!!!), but Germany definitely does struggle for oil. But I don't see how trade would really effect Germany in the 1944 scenario as it only has its allies to trade with anyway, as well as some other European countries.

The trades are more expenisve than vanilla though right? Either way it loses more IC to either making money and supplies. I have also seen players do bulk puchases at 50% success or so for oil from Argentina/BrazilVenezuela in 44 scenario.

I would be scared of the amount of bombing the AI would do on Germany in Gotterdammerung. I have only played Japan in 44 in MP. Around 3-4 months in I was finishing off the Chinese, my German ally was advancing on Leningrad, Moscow and was puling off Sealion in Britain.

If you only mean to make an AAR for AoD, and don't want to struggle too much, then just start a vanilla 1936 German campaign.

If, on the other hand, you want a challenge, start a 1936 German campaign but with the Third Reich mod and have fun :D .

What about adding "Dönitz's dream. German Naval AAR" into your AAR portfolio? (1936 scenario, historical until 1941 - except 300 U-boats.)

A Donitz dream AAR would be to east (easy= boring 4 me btw). Also convoy raiding seems to have been nerfed in AoD compared with vanilla. Used to be able to sink 6-4 convoys, now you are lucky to get 1-2.

Trying to build in addition to everything that you usually build in order to win as Germany 60-100 submarine units (or even more when replacing sunk ones), in a situation where their payoff is questionable (convoy hunting is 3-4 times less effective than in vanilla, as you say), can't be easier game than the one without the extra investment, "ordinary" German 1936 scenario (that is also in your option list). Submarine AAR might be boring only when the player doesn't bother: micromanage his/her fleet, keep track of the casualties on both sides and analyze the impact on enemy's war economy. It's your call, of course, but taking into account that AoD has improved supply and economic system, enhanced naval combat and added loss figures, it just seems that U-boat focused Germany might be interesting thing to play, write and read. (As every AoD AAR is such an event here, one has to grab each opportunity - for some reason I thought you might have a soft spot for naval AARs.)

I do have a soft spot for naval AARs, a sub one though would be boring to play and wouldn't be that hard to build 100 subs anyway (X9 lines 36 start, less than 20IC?). It would boil down to "sunk a convey here and there, BTW I just kicked the crap outta Europe, Barbarossa time, win, time to build X18 BB/SHBB etc).

Oh well, let it be then simply "I just kicked the crap outta Europe" AAR...
