    FAQ Thread

    Here is my attempt at FAQ for EvW.
    EvW is a new standalone grand strategy game set in the Cold War era, where you can play a nation and control its economy, diplomacy, politics and military.

    Game announcement

    Q: Which engine will EvW use?
    A: The Clausewitz engine, so the same used by CK2 / EU3 / Vicky2 / HoI3 and EU: Rome

    Q: Is this a mod of HoI3?
    A: No. EvW is a standalone game.

    Q: Who is developing this game?
    A: The game is developed by BL-Logic in close collaboration with Paradox Development Studio.

    Q: Who is on the developer’s list?
    A: You can identify them by the special avatar they have.

    Q: When will the game be released?
    A: Commercial release uncertain. An open Beta will be released in March* 2014
    * May be subject to change still

    Q: Where are the developers based geographically?
    A: We are a quite international set of people. More during the dev. introductions.

    Q: Will the game support multiple CPU cores?
    A: Yes.

    A: Other games have weekly or bi-weekly dev diaries. Why not EvW?
    Q: The PR plan is done by PI, they know what they are doing.

    A: Is it possible to load in HoI3 save game?
    Q: Such port is not planned in the release version.

    A: Will there be a Steam version? And a non-steam version?
    Q: Yes. No.

    A: Will there be multiplayer in the game?
    Q: Look here. This is the official stance on the subject.

    Gameplay related questions

    Q: What is the time frame for EvW?
    A: 1946.1 - 1991.12.31

    Q: What are the starting dates?
    A: 1946 / 1948 / 1950 / 1961 / 1979

    Q: Is XY country playable?
    A: All countries (nearly) that existed during the period is playable when exist.

    Q: Will one be able to start on any date between 1946 and 1991 (like in EU3 and EU3:Rome)?
    A: No.

    Q: Will this game use a CKII/EU4 style map?
    A: It will use a map-engine that is closer to HoI3. Straight from Johan

    Q: Will there be pops as in V2 with ethnicity and religion?
    A: There will be representation of population, but not their ethnicity or religion. On the other hand, countries' major ethnic group and major religion will be represented.

    Q: Will there be battle scenarios or campaigns in the game?
    A: The different start dates are campaigns, so you can chose from all existing countries. We do not have battle scenarios like in HoI2.

    Q: What military brigades are featured in the game.
    A: Full list of land types are here. Naval units. Air units.

    Q: What it the time resolution of the game? I.e. the smallest time interval.
    A: 1 hour

    We based in Eurohotel Prague. It is in suburb. I think we can post later some photo about meeting , perhaps after dev introductions, when dev diaries come.
    From dev introductions will be clear that we are really a multinational team and living in different places.
    Regarding PDS communication, Lennart and Gellert can give some details. But for communication in our team itself we use generally Skype, except some phone calling and the mentioned personal meeting.

    The developing team is quite international. I think during the introduction we will disclose our nationality (albeit for some of us, it is pretty obvious). As for communication: you would be surprised how modern technology helps in this regard

    Included confirmed information on the map engine.
    EvW will use a map engine close to HoI3 than EU4/CK2. please note this is about the map engine and not about the map itself (which cannot be CKII/EU4 for obvious reason).

    I have a few questions (rather just a copy of my last thread)
    > Will units be based on class (e.g. "Submarine"-Civilisation style or "Trafalgar class submarine"-Naval war:Arctic circle style?

    >will different units have different models, e.g. L.A. class and Trafalgar class separate models?

    >Will units have names if so then historical? (USS Chicago,HMS Talent)

    >Will it be possible to assign ships to different fleets and base them in different ports-perhaps even ports on foreign soil?
