Verify your steam files.
Right click on CK2 on Steam, Properties, then in one of the tabs there is "Verify integrity of the game cache" do that, let it finish and all your stuff is back.
Yeah something with Steam definitely broke the DLC. I think this happened before actually when Sword of Islam first came out but got fixed at some point.
Right now according to steams file verification and the CK2 launcher I have Sword of Islam installed. (And its physically in the DLC folder in the CK2 directory) but ingame it claims I don't have Sword of Islam.
After you launch the CK2 launcher, try deselecting and then re-selecting (uncheck then recheck the tick boxes) the DLCs. Then start the game afterwards.
I've just come back to CK2 after having not played it for a month and all of my DLC's appear to have vanished, how to I find out what's happened?

what does verify integrity of game cache mean? I also seem to have lost my DLC's as they have disappeared from the start up menu thing and I would like them back.
If you own CK2 on Steam you can verify the integrity of the game cache by right clicking on CK2 in the games list, selecting properties and then it's somewhere there, i think in the second tab. Steam will then re-download all missing data and you will have your DLCs back.
Someone needs to make a thread to show folks that they need to verify the integrity and how to do it and sticky in in all caps.
Right-click on CK2 while on your Library Page in Steam. Select Properties. Click Local Files. Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
It will take a while to run. You may have to log off, and back on once it finishes to see any changes. Chances are that if that doesn't work, the problem is a temporary one that lies with Steam. That's not always the case, but it has been reported as such, repeatedly.

I have writen how to do this on quite many post in the tech support forum so it should not be hard to find.
