This all looks too Civilization V to me. I don't care about flashy graphics or tons of animated map features slowing down my map using, I just want HoI-like political map.

Which you have access in every game, including this one... Or did i misunderstood something?
The fact that they are improving upon the aesthetics of the map doesn't make this game more "Civilization V" - it merely makes the game better to look at, which is never a bad thing, IMO. It's not like they're sacrificing depth or gameplay for it.
Not only that. You had me horrified at my own, brief, vision of Mr. Van Rumpy dressed as the Easter Bunny dropping little chocolatey brown .... articles through letterboxes across the EUSSR everywhere.

Do we have a high res map of the world at the start of the game with the provinces and all?
With EUIV coming out in a week and the absolute torrent of screenshots, this thread has served its usefulness and will no longer be updated. I must say, I had fun providing you with an easy source for looking up older screenshots and I hope it helped you a lot.
