So apparently my entire country turned reactionary

The title says it all, I as egypt am just minding my own business slowly progressing towards westernization and BAM! there goes all my carefully laid plans, I reloaded and apparently my entire military is reactionary as well. My intention is not to whine (even though I'm a tad irritated at the moment), instead i wouldn't mind tips and tricks on how to prevent this from happening, the wind of westernization happened pretty early might this be a contributing factor?

On a sidenote, I was planning on adding some pictures but for some reason i cant attach them from my computer, the only option I got is to insert an url, I thought this odd so I checked in the crusader kings 2 forum and there I have no difficulty with adding images

I had the same problem as Ethiopia; 1.6 out of 1.63 million pops were reactionaries. The 30,000 that weren't were all in my army, fortunately.

Why are your POPs going reactionary? Unemployment, life needs not being met, etc? Look at your POP screen. For your whole country to revolt means you have a systemic issue.

POPs turn reactionary when you pass reforms they don't want.

Yea this might have been it, oh and the 100% tax setting on all classes, I went back and restarted a fait bit behind the trouble, made it to secondary power then got mega dowed by the ottomans who proceeded to whoop my ass back and forth across afrika at which point i decided to ragequit

I think it might actually be impossible to westernise. I've just spent two hours passing reforms as Iran only for a billion reactionaries to rise up...and when my army is putting them down, a billion more spring up.
They might have at least put a warning up when you start a game - "Attempting to westernise will result in failure, don't bother".

Here's one for you: in my opinion you should only pass one reform - the financial one, and use the additional money to increase education spendings for higher literacy gain (the higher the literacy the lower reform cost and the higher research points generation). All the other reforms should be passed in one go during one calendar year. You should also take the reforms for which you have the biggest discount - either military or economic. Each reform passed increases upper house support for further reforms of its kind (i.e. military or economic), but it is reset back on January the 1st. The higher the UH support the lower the costs of the reform. You can save a couple of thousand research points that way and your people will be taken by surprise and should not revolt.
