I have updated the 1st post with the latest files. You will be able to play the mod on top of 1.03b as soon as it's released (and no, I have no more information than you on when this will be).

Enjoy and see you soon!

I remember having discovered WiF for HoI2 fairly late and I immediately loved it. Haven't played the DH-version yet.
Could you briefly explain what kind of players are better off with vanilla DH 1.03 and who will enjoy WiF more?

Players who find DH too hard shouldn't try WIF. Those accustomed to HOI/DH have no reason not to play WIF. It's basically more difficulty, more immersion, more flavour.. Who wouldn't love that?
WIF2 is not a drastic modification as WIF was since I already implemented most of my ideas in DH Full. WIF2 uses all vanilla data-base and adds few things here and there (unlike other mods which use their own huge data-base converted from HOI2 - which I did not want to do).

Ok, thanks! I was asking because I'm a veteran player but not a masochist (the latest versions of TRP for HoI2 were too frustrating for me). And well, I figured you would have taken WiF's goodness into DH anyways. Hence I wondered what the difference could be. What exactly do you mean by more difficult? A.i. cheats? Is the difficulty scaleable (as in Stoney Road for example) or do you have to mod it yourself?

There is no cheat in WIF. The difficulty is scaleable ("normal" difficulty = vanilla hard, and so on).
France AI is better than vanilla. There are attrition penalties during Russian winter. These kinds of things that spice up the game a little bit. It does not make it impossible, though. Just more interesting and challenging.
There are also nice "rewards" events if your campaign are successful.

Great, I remember being incredibly fond of the Russian winter attrition modifiers.

WIF is hard, that's why i'll play on easier difficulty

Exactly what I was thinking. I like going full-Hitler by doing some batsh*t crazy stuff in each game (like nukes, surface navy, heavy tanks etc.). That is only possible with lower difficulty settings. They allow for more RPG-elements and creative freedom. The harder the setting, the more of a chess game it becomes where you spend most time eliminating bad decisions. Whereas in lower difficulty settings you can embrace crazy ideas. The pros amongst us should try that once in a while.

The mod looks very interesting, but just out of curiosity, will the mod as a whole or chunks of it be integrated into Darkest Hour's future patches? Since my set up for DH right now is not very accommodating for mods.

also, i bet LiamRiordan will make cheats applicable to WIF II, so cheat on!

Excellent idea! However, could you implement more choices? Now you merely have "full risk" or "no thanks". What about different choices with aggressive, moderate and safe options? After all, not every player is either fantastic or bad. There are also good and mediocre players. In real history Germany lost 50.000 men during the Polish campaign. Limiting casualties to 15.000 is almost impossible!
The Germans lost ~16000 deads. With the game mechanics, the wounded, etc. go back to the manpower and are not counted as casualties IIRC. So, the gamble is quite fairly accurate.

It looks like a cool mod. But...why don't you use your spare time for DH instead, on stuff that actually will be included?
