Thread: Looking for betatesters for a SUBMOD for MEIOU

    I know that my submod isn't that popular as the original MEIOU, but since Gigau is planning an update on MEIOU (also been waiting for that ) I need to ask about the date of release. Should I wait for 5.4 of MEIOU and update my submod with MEIOU's new content, or should I release first official beta version of the mod this weekend, and just update it later? What do you think?

    5.4 is coming it this weekend so.. I'd say wait and update it before releasing it.

    While waiting for MEIOU 5.4 I've decided to add quite a funny expansion to the mod. I hope you will like it .


    Any suggestions/opinions/advices?

    The mod is still in development. And I'm looking for anyone willing to help .

    Thank you .

    Currently this sub-submod adds 21 new nations (18 from the start + 3 that can rebel or be released as vassals). I'm also thinking about adding one more at start + creating one formable nation for entire area (but I'm not sure how to code it). Cultures, provinces and map are ready, for religion I've used "pagan" bundle of animism, pantheism, midewiwin, tagalog, baltic pagan and shamanism. Units are in plans, after I'll rest a little from work.

    Both . The official map that Tolkien created just doesn't have enough details in some parts. Using the non-canon map can help fill some gaps. Other modders creating mods for other games also were using the unofficial map.

    Time for an update. The final version of mod is almost ready. The last thing to do is to test if the mod will work on other computers. Thats why I want to ask You for help with final stage of testing - is there anyone with some time to run a quick test game?

    Currently I'm also running a test game as Hobbiton. It starts as a baltic pagan 2 province vassal of much stronger Kingdom of Arnor (According to lore Arnor ceased to exist a long time before the action of actual LotR, but I had to place a country in that region). Here are the pics:

    Instead of Arnor You should create "free people of Eriador"- like in 3rd age total war- they can form Arnor later. You should also split most of factions- Isengard is too big, Rohan shouldn't have this province on coast (give it to Gondor). I don't know what's start date of Your mod but Gondor held Ithilien and Kair Andros most of time (until final invasion of course). And what're other continents? Maybe You should create bigger Middle Earth because on the west were "Sacred lands"- Valinor and no one was able to get there (and Valars were kind of gods so no one was able to defeat them too). Or create something east of Middle Earth

    The other continents look to be where the old countries (England, France, etc.) are. I mourn for England in that screenshot (unless they've been moved since the last version I tested).

    That was game in progress not starting positions . I just wanted challenge the other players into forming Hobbit Empire . Gondor starts exactly as you described, Isengard also starts as a much smaller country.

    Suggestion about Eriador taken, however I'm not really sure how to put it into life - unfortunately I don't know how to create decisions and events about forming new nations. I would need some help from a coder to do so.

    Ah, it looked like France to me.
    As for decisions and events, with getting too specific my advice would be to open up decisions\D - FormingHistoricalNations.txt and pick a nation decision to use as a template, then open up events\0591051 - Yearly On Action.txt and do a find for whatever claim_on_x variables are mentioned in your example decisions. That should give you a feel for how nation formations are typically handled in MEIOU.

    On the other hand Anglo-French union started to loose ground now very quickly, so you can start mourning again . About forming the new nations well, it would require me to completely redo regions in the game, which will take a hell lot of time . I might try to do this for the next version of the mod, but for now I want to release it as it is... but I still need someone to confirm that it works before officially publishing it... any volunteers?
