Apologies if I'm jumping into a topic that's already been bashed to death, but I've noticed in my limited experience so far of HoI/AoD/CORE, the AI does precious little in the way of naval strikes from land based aircraft, save a very limited amount of convoy bombing. Historically, of course, this is pretty inaccurate, as naval strikes played a pretty big part in some theatres, especially the Mediterranean.
It may seem like a subtle point as well, but I think it's had a major strategic impact in the games I've had so far. For example, I'm currently playing as UK, and have been able completely to prevent the invasion of Norway, simply by parking the Home Fleet in The Kattegard. In reality, an enemy fleet operating there towards the beginning of the war would have been annihilated by naval bombers. Likewise, I've had no problem supplying Malta and generally owning the Mediterranean, although historically, Malta convoys were a big problem for the Allies (e.g. Operations Vigorous and Pedestal) and North Africa had to be supplied via West Africa or by convoys rounding the Cape of Good Hope.
Anyway, none of that is intended to be criticism, just an observation! It strikes me that it's a small area that actually has a big impact. I know that changing small things in the game can have unintended consequences though, so maybe it's already been tweaked and changed to how it is now for a reason. If not, I'd be happy to play test a game with production of naval bombers emphasised... I'm assuming that if they've been built, the AI will use them?
