Or in this case the North Atlantic. I have stopped playing this game as there no way to save mid way through a scenario, an absolute pain. The dev has gone very quiet on this issue. Is it far away?

Unfortunately any significant updates are not imminent at this point. We are planning a DLC for the early autumn, but major functionality updates will not be added.
That doesn't sound like good news to me. So you are saying adding a Save feature amounts to a significant/major functionality update? A lot of people (myself included) have stopped playing NWAC while waiting for the save feature to be added. Can we get some idea when that long-awaited feature will be added? Thx....
+1.
Played a few scenarios to get a flavour for the game then put it aside awaiting at least the save game feature. I hope I'm misinterpreting - are there no longer any plans to add a savegame feature at all? I'm just not touching the game again until it's there, period. The DLC is completely pointless to me without it. It's very rare that I would have the time to play a full scenario uninterrupted and I still find it hard to believe this game was released without this basic and essential feature in the first place (or that I bought it in that state - but frankly I did not realize the feature was missing beforehand).

+1
I've had to many crashes as well. Can't continue on the campaign or play larger scens.![]()
Fair enough about major functionality but what about normal functionality updates, i.e the ability to actually play the game without the sound stuttering and freezing? Also if this update is going to be a dlc will we have to pay for it?
Guys they are done with it and movin on plain and simple. Guess we should too....another case of promises, promises, just glad I only paid 20 bux. I did really have high hopes for this title but now its just the same old story as it will always be by a game developer. No way to change the situation, no way to keep it from happening again, just the way it is period.
No offense to you JanH at least you tried to work with and be part of the community.
The game is on sale at GG for 4,99€ thats not much.
Indeed I thought to buy this game, fortunatly I checked forums and found this topic...now after making decision to buy this game I shall not buy it.
You can make DLC but not as mentioned feature to save games? Maybe I missed something but I personally would like to save progress anytime I want in any gamemode I want.
If the things mentioned here are true then:
-75% NO DEAL.

Yeah, I was interested in this game when it came out, bought it as part of Paradox's deal on Steam (30 quid for a whole load of their releases including CKII wasn't a bad deal at all). However, when I played it and found within 5 minutes that not only can't you save, but it randomly crashes, I just decided that whatever other qualities the game might have, it wasn't worth playing unless it was possible to at least make sure that progress in the game would be randomly lost.
Guys, forget about DLC, there's just no way I'm even going to bother to start playing this without a save game feature. I can't believe you think your customers would be happy with such a product.
Jan Just a simple up front answer, is a save game feature going to be implemented at all? if so when the near future this year much later.
This is pretty lousy. I bought this game on good faith and have played only 15 hours of it. I have ceased playing it until a savegame feature is released. After all the promises and high hopes to just stop all work on the game like this is unforgivable. You can forget ever getting any money for DLC from me.

Thankyou, the devs explanation on the save game issue is most clear and concise! No further explanation required.
Let them enjoy the holidays, everyone needs a break once in a while. They're humans too... I'm sure after the proper rest, they'll come back revitalized and do their best by releasing new patches and content. More faith guys!

Although I'm not a software person, I do work in a fairly large software firm and look over the contracts we sign with our customers. All of our customers have substantial penalties for failure to deliver a working product, this work should be done at our expense - not the customer's. That we're willing to do this is why our customers come back to us even if we occasionally have problems with our systems (if you live in Finland and buy train tickets, you might have heard of some of them).
Turbo Tape don't seem to see it this way. Instead they seem to think their customers will pay for a DLC for a game that isn't yet in a working condition. I, for one, won't.
Seriously guys, you're published by Paradox but you don't seemed to have learned from their success. Paradox succeeded despite having games that were lousy at release (although all of them, as far as I know, had a save-game feature, because that's a basic requirement) because the community knew that they'd work on them until they were finished products.
DLC - Yes please, let me give you more of my money so I can play the only game in existence that does not have a Save Game feature.
The problem is that forgetting the save game functionality in the design phase is a common "rookie developer" mistake that is rather hard to fix when the game is done... There are a few startup companies that has done the same with their first title... Like Massive Entertainment in Sweden that did not have it for their first game "Ground Control". And it was very hard to add it after the mistake to not include it while designing the game... Know that from a very close source
You have to implement a good structure of all objects and the state of all the stuff in the game... If you just create a bunch of objects and let them have "their own life" which is easy to do in a development tool like Unity that is used for this game it will not be that easy to save all the floating state and then restore it when you want to load your saved game. Talking from first hand experience here
So - I'm also really sad that Turbo Tape forgot it when designing the game - and I understand their pain of implementing it now. I also bought the game day one and have only started it once or twice waiting for the save game functionality... But I understand why we don't get it... Sigh.
The lack of the ability to save is, in my eyes, a feature of the game. It is supposed to be challenging, it is supposed to make you cry out in agony when your ships get hit by a broadside of missiles- it is by no means a bug. If you feel the need to basically cheat your way through a game by reloading a save whenever everything doesn't go your own way, then this game is certainly not for you.
I'm sure many real life admirals (and generals) would love to have a save game feature too.
it's not a case of cheating, it's a matter of time. I have a greater issue with the campaign, it isn't. It's no different, it's just a mirror of the scenario list with a very poor narrative between scenarios. In general I like the game.
