M&B Warband: Attacking and defending questions

Hello.
I wanted to ask some things about attack and defense, mostly about melee.
I have some doubts after I did the tutorial.
I know that you have to move to any direction while pressing the left mouse button to make the attack go from that direction. But, how does defense work? Does it work automatically or do you have to move any direction from where the attack is coming? Or does it depend on the weapon, one handed or two handed? In the tutorial it says when i havet o defend "up+right mouse button", but i noticed it does it automatically and you have a staff.

Other thing i have doubts with is, when attacking, is aiming important or it doesn't matter?
I mean, if you do "left+RMB" you throw a swing from the left, but if you aim to his head, is it going to go to his head etc?

Depends on your settings. You can set defense to automatic, which will decide what direction to block from.
