How do you Win the American Revolution ?

Sorry for all the Questions people, but my First Choice for a nation was the United States. So I'm Right in the middle of the Revolutionary War. Is it even Possible for you to Successfully Expand the U.S to the Mississippi River like it did Historically? Can you get an Alliance with France or Spain ?

The Best I can do is hold off the British Hordes until 1777 or 78, and still have to Cede One Territory only to have Britain come back and Attack me later. I mean Sure, I Won Independence and I'll be Better Prepared the next time the Brits Attack, but is it really Possible to Have the Historical Victory ?

Extremely hard. Most of your provinces start with no forts in the historical bookmark. Furthermore, the English will zerg rush you with armies. It's hard to get French support, but if you can that does help.

Your best bet is to immediately send troops into Canada to draw the AI away from your territory and aim for a while peace or minor concession until you're on your feet.

It's a revolution war so you can annex all of Great Britain for 0 infamy. Seize everything you can, mint your arse off and make use of the absolutely mindbogglingly brilliant generals you have.

Alternatively, just make all the troops you can as fast as you can and hold them off defensively, never pushing too deep. You'll eventually grind them to a white peace. The AI is terrible at fighting overseas.

I've defeated them and took a bit of territory as well (which is very bad in terms of infamy though). You have some good generals, a decent income, often get war subsidies, and have the advantage of being on a different continent. I found that using one massive army to keep the Brits occupied while using smaller forces for mass sieging works fairly well. Eventually all they would do is continually land a few regiments somewhere along the East Coast, which I would subsequently crush. Then, IIRC, I just built up a massive navy and took a few provinces in Great Britain itself and they were more than willing to cave into any demands. This was way back when DW was relatively fresh, so it might not be quite the same now, but I didn't find it incredibly difficult to at least get a white peace with them. You've just got to pick your battles and use your advantages to their fullest.
