Thread: Summer Steam Sale : CK II -75%

  1. #81
@13th ronin, discounted items are better than not discounted at all.

Pricing policy is steam's matters and maybe Paradox too and it is WELL within their rights NOT ours at all to dictate THEIR product pricing.

But what would u prefer with this sale or without? I'd be grateful buying the whole thing with this sale. I bought many CK2 items including the game on full price....I'm not regrettng it but why are you so hating the discrepancies I mean they are ALL on sale nevertheless!

I'm completely calm. However, maybe you should follow your own advice and think.

This is what you asked, 'Are they selling that poorly?'

This is the answer, Steam summer sales is one of the best chances from Paradox to sell thier game, they would be foolish not to include thier range in the sale in some capacity regardless of how recently thier already very cheap dlcs came out.

Now, if you have a response other than 'I'm not listening' that is rational, please, by all means continue, otherwise, we are done talking.

Oh before I advise anyone I made sure I heed my own, thank you for reminding me.

I was referring to SoI. You know SoI is a new release. The convention or the logic is usually new released items are either not discounted or discounted at lesser percentage. However SoI doesn't follow this convention it's put on 75% sale already.

Now that's why is asked if SoI was selling that poor that they dicounted it that much already.

As for the 'regardless of how recently their already very cheap DLCs came out' ...now where else would you find newly released expansion of a game being discounted at 75% a few weeks after release? Certainly that doesn't follow the convention. Such words of yours I'm afraid pointed to either ignorance or arrogance not willing to admit that people tend to ask such question whether the product sells poorly when a new product got discounted so early after release. It's just human nature to ask things like that.

But again that's your issue. Good luck to you.

It's the Steam summer sale, it's a big deal, that's my point, if you don't get that, I can't explain it any more than that.

Steam summer sale = massive cash injection for Paradox.

Why would they? Your free work is just so good!

Just take care about the package CK2 + mods is cost currently MORE than the game + each DLC alone because the pack is a valid offer until end of July and the -75% is only for today (and yesterday)
    Edit : they corrected it

About CK1, well, I had it for a long time, had a very nice time with it but now I'm unable to go back to it... there are things that I'm expecting (because of CK2) that I don't find and make me quit the game shortly after start.

I was going to wait until Paradox fixed the Mac version to be able to run on the Intel 4000 HD graphics chip, but the Steam offer seemed a bargain and Steam offer both Windows and Mac versions at the same time, so I'll run CKII in Windows under Bootcamp for now (which runs it absolutely fine, the Intel 4000 HD hardware at least is up to the job), then move over to the native Mac version when this is fixed. I ended up buying the whole shebang - CK + DLC pack + Sword of Islam + African Units DLC, as was all cheap! :-)

    Are they selling that poorly?
You seem to be confusing retail strategy with Digital Download Strategy tbh, Steam/Valve have gone on the record and said large publiscised sales with big discounts generate upto 40 fold increase in revenue (with a ~75% discount) and it will increase the products sales following the sale.

As to why the DLC such as ruler designer are only 40%, it was pretty rubbish, and they probably want to push the content in SOI more then the Designer,
    That said you can get
    http://store.steampowered.com/sub/14254/
If you dont have CK2 then you can get the 40% DLC for 2.5$

Steam is the one who decides what goes on sale and when on the Summer Sale. It's part of doing business with Steam, you'll notice that none of the other online distributors that Paradox uses are having the sale even though Amazon and Gamersgate both had Paradox sales about a month ago. If you want to know why it's on sale I suggest you take it up Steam.

Out of work at the moment and been playing the demo over and over hoping this would be on the Summer sale at Steam as I can't afford full price just now.

Yay - delayed gratification works out at last. I have given Paradox hundreds of dollars buying games I never really got into, so don't feel so bad about getting this one cheap.

Just go to your Game Libary, left click on CK2 and then go to CD-Key on the right hand side. I even made a picture
