Interface Style
I'm curious about what the games interface will look like. After all the style helps with immersion. A brief look at HOI, EU, VIC or CK screen shots and the interface design style would make it obvious what time period the game is set and aid a players immersion. But what of the cold war?
I don't know about other people but I don't associate just one design style with the cold war but several. Using an eighties computer style would seem out of place when fighting Reds in Korea in the fifties. Of course the reverse may also be true if using a fifties inspired interface style when the year is 1988.
One of the things that put me off of SR:CW was the rather bland style of the interface as I didn't feel it would make me feel like Brezhnev sat in the Kremlin plotting my next move.
Any thoughts.

I agree wholeheartedly. One of the most important parts of it should be a changing interface. As it stands, this game will cover a greater change in culture, technology, and politics than any other Paradox game yet. Even EU3, spanning over 400 years, did not see any change to the way things were presented. Lavish royalty, nobles, etc. The interface was static all that time because the times IRL were more or less static as well. It would greatly benefit immersion if EvW had a GUI that altered its looks as you unlocked progressively greater computing technologies.

The game turns into text mode with green text, when you invent the first computer with a screen.

This is indeed a period marked by rapid change and development in almost every aspect of the world. On the other hand I'm not a supporter of making radical changes with regards to the interface level in order to accommodate these changes. In my mind it would be sufficient to incorporate these changes only on a superficial level, reflected merely in fashion and style (i.e. through events and character portraits) and subtle changes in background music to reflect the central theme of each specific era. Projection through minor but characteristic details then.

Just got an idea: Design intelligence screen interface as some intelligence service work table/room.
2 versions ones KGB(GRU) for Warsaw Pact and CIA ones for Nato.
